It's really early in the season. We have only a very small sample size of games to go by. Most players haven't had that long road stretch, or played 5 straight games versus much better teams, or have had an extended home stand or been beat up and hurting and played through it yet.

I don't think they select all the All-Stars from the East for over 45 games. Maybe, it's best to wait another 20-25 games, after which most players will have gotten to see most other teams and experienced a good 25% of the season and players numbers are less of a statistical anomaly.

That said in the East I think the All-Stars are:

Embiid
Kyrie
Walker
Giannis
Beal
Butler
Siakam
Simmons
A Piston(one of Griffin, Drummond or Rose)
A Celtic(one of Hayward, Brown or Tatum)
A vet(one of Lowry, Middleton,Love)
A young guy(one of Trae Young, Brown or Tatum if Hayward or the other guy was chosen above, Zach LaVine, LaVert, etc.)
I doubt the Celtics get 3 all-stars.  Maybe if #1 in the East.  I think the coaches will select a proven vet over a young guy just putting up all-star numbers for the 1st time.

I hope Smart gets consideration...he is a true game changer
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Smart is more along the line of Bruce Bowen and Michael Cooper.

Neither of whom was ever an all-star.

But had sub All-Star impact at their very best (at least I can say that for Cooper and Smart). The best non-big defenders are usually sub All-Stars if they are neutral to slightly positive on offense.

It’s 12 guys right?

You got the locks down
Embiid, kyrie, kemba, gianis, beal

Siakam and/or lowry
Hayward ahead of tatum but maybe both  A bit biased here, but if the are #1 ranked in the east or nba, we might get 3
Butler
Brogdon
Simmons
Drummond

Outside looking in is young and griffin

I'd add Brown into the "wildcards" category. If he keeps up his current production in terms of counting stats (yes I know the box score by itself is garbage in player evaluation, but casual fans will make their votes based on such stats) on a Celtics team that's one of the best teams in the league in terms of RS record, I can see him squeaking in.

I think Simmons is a lock. Will probably get voted on as starter by the fans.

When griffin gets back he will lower drummonds numbers in both points and rebounds significantly I would think.  He gets down to 15 and 12 and he won't make it.

We are still so early into the season, and a lot of weight is given to team success once you get past the starters.  I think Kemba (but the competition will be stiffer this year than last) is the most likely representative for us with our wings having an uphill battle.  If we continue to be near the top of the standings, that could def. change.

Fans are only 50% of the vote (and I am not really convinced he will even get more votes than walker or Irving at the guard spots considering walker was a starter for a the hornets). His numbers are also down across the board and he just got injured (unclear if serious). Would be pretty surprised if he made it at this point.

Wanted to update this cause we have had a few more weeks of play and there have been some injuries (Hayward, Lowry) and some guys really falling back to earth. I could be forgetting someone cause i am mostly doing this off my head (will edit if i did) Seems to be 8 players to me that would i really be surprised if they didn't make it without injuries. A ton of people seem to be competing for the last 4 spots. I also would be surprised if there isn't at least a second celtic and one pacer. (So really two wide open spots)

Locks or should be in barring injuries
Embid
Walker
Giannis
Siakem
Beal (30ppg)
Kyrie Irving

Should be in:
Trae Young
Jimmy Butler

In contention (no particular order)
Brown
Tatum
Hayward (unlikely with injury, but unclear how much he will miss)
Draymond (coming back to earth, but still at 19 and 17)
Brodgon (19 and 8, great shooting splits)
Sabonis (18 and 14)
Kevin Love (18 and 12)
Vucevic (18 and 12, has picked it up)
Zach Lavine (20ppg)

Possible late injury charge, but seems unlikely at this point
Oladipo (has not played)
Griffin (19 and 5 in two games so far)

Kemba will get in for sure as long as the Celts are near the top of the standings.

Giannis is a lock.

Butler will get in if the Heat continue to do well.

Siakam is a lock.

Embiid is a lock if he plays enough games.

Brogon will get in if he keeps playing the way he has and the Pacers are doing well.

Drummond is going to be an All-Star if he continues to average nearly 20 points and over 16 rebounds.  I won't be surprised if he falls off that pace a bit though.

Irving will probably make it in if he plays enough games and the Nets are near .500.

Trae Young will have an argument if he keeps his counting stats way up and the Hawks aren't abjectly terrible.

Bradley Beal is going to get in if he keeps putting up crazy stats.

Other possibilities:

Sabonis is putting up really good numbers.

Tatum / Brown / Hayward -- one of these guys will get in if the Celts are good
