i have to be honest... I'm not meticulous with this kind of stuff.  I can't reference a specific point.  But early on in this game I felt like the refs were calling a lot of things in favor of Atlanta... almost too much.   And then I started remembering all of those Tim Donaghey excerpts and I immediately thought to myself, "nationally televised game... atlanta vs boston... they want this one to stay close"...

I'm usually the one who would say "never blame the refs... it's part of the game"...   And I believe they showed Doc in his timeout basically said to his boys, "play through it.  They are letting them get away with stuff but play through it".   So whether or not the Refs were actually fixing the game... it seems that Boston at least had the same perception I did.   Is it an excuse for losing the game?... no... but I wonder how much of that ends up throwing them off, frustrating them and causing them to give one away.  If you had in the back of your mind, "the refs are trying to screw us tonight", it might cause you to play a little different.

There was pretty clearly a double standard for contact for much of the game.  Now, that doesn't mean the game was fixed or that the refs cost us the game - I don't believe either one of those.  But I also don't believe you can say the refs had no net impact at all on the outcome.  They weren't the biggest reason we lost, and fans always think their team isn't officiated fairly, but I think it's reasonable to say the game wasn't called consistently last night.

The reason I try to avoid this conversation is because for each time you believe Boston got a "bad call"... every team in the league probably at some point or another has the same case against Boston.  I'm sure there are plenty of teams who believe they were "Screwed" in favor of the Celtics.

But I definitely had the impression the refs were off...  and clearly so did a lot of the other people watching the game... and so did my dad who texted me after the game (refs had money on the game).  And I wasn't on this forum during the game with a sheep mindset... and I wasn't listening to Tommy give a homer broadcast... So for everyone to watch that game and think the reffing was off is at least interesting.   I suspected something was "off" well before they showed Doc Rivers telling his team that the reffing was off...

If you get the stats correct to prove star18 wrong so be it.   Whether it is mathematically possible to do so is another matter.

LarBird I agree with you.

I just look at the box score, the proof is in the box score.

Do you watch Entourage a lot?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

So, if I find other games where that many calls went against the same team in a row, will you admit you were wrong or will you just say that the refs cheated in that game too?

And if I find multiple games in the past couple of weeks where that occurred will you admit you were wrong or again is it now a vast conspiracy?

I just want to know before I type up my next post and show just how foolish you are being. Are you in any way willing to admit you are wrong and shut up if presented with enough evidence that it happens?

Yes but you have to find 10 calls in a row under 6 minutes, I don't think even 6 calls in a row in under 6 minutes ever happened.  If so, I will send you one free box of Mr. T/LeBron cereal an no extra charge.

Actually no, well maybe I forgot to praise Jeremy Piven today because I was too busy praising Jay-Z.

Well good luck on that.

Most personal fouls, team, game:
42 - Minneapolis vs. Syracuse, April 23, 1950

Celtics got called at a rate of 88 fouls a game in that less than 6 minute stretch last night.

Most personal fouls, one quarter
19-Dallas at Denver, January 15, 1982

So remember the Celtics got called at a rate of 22 fouls in one quarter.  And again even in that 1982 game with Dallas & Denver to find 10 in a row without the other team getting a foul, just don't think that happened.

Last night was an NBA record, by far, they crushed that record.

You can't use hack a Shaq games or hack a Ben Wallace games eiter, or games in the last few minutes when teams foul intentionally.

None of those 10 fouls in a row last night were intentional.   About 2 fouls should have been called during that stretch, and one on the Hawks too.

Real Final Score:Celtics 93 Hawks 88.

HA I Love it!!   :P

OK this is what I'm going to do, I am proud of the effort and very happy.   However, first off Don't Front
07:44 Casspi Turnover : 3 Second Violation (1 TO)

So as consilation prizes you will be sent a small sample of which will include 3 Mr. T corn pop heads, and 2 LeBron marshmellow heads.  I'm not going to send you a full box because I have to stick to house rules.

Now, some of you may say well the Casspi Turnover which ends the consecutive foul streak against the Warriors at 7, isn't a foul.  On the defensive end it is a foul.   A 3 second call is a judgement call too sometimes, especially on the defensive end, because they can blame you for not guarding anyone and zone defense is illegal.  Fouls are judgement calls too. If you go to instant replay you can verify out of bounds/in bounds foot on line/foot behind line, buzzer sounded, ball hit something, to the left to the right, etc.  But you cannot verify for sure a touchy personal foul or illegal zone defense(this is how the refs do it wink wink).

During our streak of 10 fouls in a row in 5:38 which shattered the NBA record, Pierce was called for illegal defense for no reason just because Perkins got stuck on Bibby, and the refs made up the call.
06:08 Pierce Foul : Defense 3 Second (0 PF)
So whether you are on the offensive or defensive side a 3 second call is a call against you, so techincally the Warriors streak of 11 has been disapproved by our board of directors, however we do have consolation prizes as stated above and you will be credited with 7 calls in 4:27
Now which one looks worse, just be honest, I know the box of cereal may make ya do crazy things because you really want a box.  However you have to go by the stats.

7 straight fouls against Golden State in 4:27
8 straight fouls against Golden State in 8:17
9 straight fouls against Golden State in 9:03
10 straight fouls against Golden State in 9:25
11 straight fouls against Golden State in 10:12.
10 straight fouls against Boston in 5:38.  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Of course the Warriors being on the road(Boston at home), in the 1st & 2nd(Boston clutch 4th), low budget game(Fri night ESPN) will not count, but it will be readable in the fine print.

Thank you for playing.  If you want to win, next time just press the reset button and good luck.
