The Pacers have agreed to trade PG Darren Collison and SG Dahntay Jones to the Mavericks for C Ian Mahinmi in a sign-and-trade deal.
Mahinmi gets $16 million over four years, the Mavericks get a starting point guard, and the Pacers clear up a logjam at the position. Collison should be a good fit in Dallas, while George Hill is now the starting PG in Indy, with Lance Stephenson set to get a much bigger role this season.

Dont get this trade...
For Mavericks its a nobrainer, they need a PG and a SG. Pacers gave too much up for Ian Mahinmi, way too much...

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
So Mahinmi is getting paid $4 million a year to back up a guy who doesn't deserve a max contract?

Dallas just got away with robbery.  Collison, unlike Kidd, is more of a scorer.  His attacking style should help the Mavs.

And the fact that Mavs signes Chris Kaman today is just great for them. They also have 4.3 $ left (Which they plan to use on Elton Brand).

It's funny how people were calling the Mavs done about a week ago.  Collison, Kaman, and Brand?  That's a heckuva haul for a team that missed out on Deron Williams.

And the fact that they lost Jason Terry to us. Give Mavs some credit they did a great job this off season.

I like Ian Mahinmi, but that's a huge contract for a guy who's accomplished as little as he has.  Centers always seem to get big contracts.  For Indy's sake, I hope he works out better than Mark Blount.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
The Pacers could've gotten a decent amount more for Collison. Seems like an impatient move.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.
