For overall popularity and peak name recognition:
Hogan, Austin, The Rock, Andre, Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg, Macho Man, Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sting

Based on combined ring savvy and speaking ability:
Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Rock, Sting, Macho Man, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Ted Dibiase, Austin, Mr Perfect

Great post idea,TP!

And what about Dr. Jerry Graham, the greatest villain ever in professional wrestling, 4 time WWWF tag team champion, whose motto was "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat."

I come from the age when there was Bruno Samartino, and everyone else.  He was such a legend.  It was fake back then too, but sure did not seem like it.

No Undertaker? 16-0 at wrestlemania and he's not on the top 10?  Also I agree the Rock should be in there.  He was one of the most entertaining men in the business.  I started clicking raw on again recently.  Randy Orton is at another level, you'll see him in this list in 20 years.
