Jordan expiring contract plus Dwight Powell salary filler.

 Mavs

Barnes
Hayward
Wes Matthews
Luka
Dennis Smith

Mavs can find a new big man next year and that team is in good shape. They can also move Smith Jr for a big and let Luka run the offense full time.

For the Celtics we get to solidify our frontcourt with the second best rebound in the league and see how Stevens works with a throwback Big man.

It's a half year and playoff audition to see if we want him back.

Jordan
Horford
Tatum
Smart
Irving

Holy crap is that team big and Long. Morris, Brown, Rozier off the bench. Might have to put a ring on it B.

Getting Hayward+Yabu off the books doesn't help us all that much next summer. Assuming Horford opts in, Kyrie signs a new max contract and Morris-Baynes-Rozier-Theis walk, we 'd have about 19 million in cap space. That's without including the draft picks (up to 4 of them) + Dwight Powell's salary next season ($10,259,375). All things consider, it's possible that we would have zero money to spend in free agency. I'd much rather give Hayward more time to return to his old self.

Obviously, we could re-sign Jordan. I guess I'm not a big fan of his game. If we were to trade Hayward (which most likely we won't), I'd like us to go after Otto Porter.

Dallas says no. I think there plan is to keep Denadre long term.

I was reading how Houston is looking to add another wing to go along with Harden

Maybe Rozier (who shares playing time with Rivers while CP3 is out) and Hayward to the Rockets for Brandon Knight and Eric Gordon.

Gordon gives us a shooting guard we need and Brandond Knight is just salary filler.

Lord knows the Rockets are always looking to add overpaid scorers on their team.

Atleast DeAndre won't have a scoreless outing in 22 minutes.

No to Jordan, but I would be very pleased with Bam Adebayo, estatic with Wendell Carter going forward.
Ofc, Mia or Chi are probably aren't trading them.

Dallas might be hesitant to deal with us again after the Rondo disaster.

How long before anyone realizes that this version of Hayward is untradable. Other than pennies on the dollar.

New Orleans needs a wing player (like the last 5 years) and Gordon Hayward is still better than Solomon Hill or Wesley Johnson  ;D

Problem is, if the Pels were to trade AD they 'd be looking for prospects + picks, not overpaid vets. Unless of course you have a different player in mind. Can't think of anyone else to be honest. Really like Jrue Holiday but he is at his best when playing at PG and we already got Kyrie.

THE DEANDRE JORDAN ISSUE

NBA sources said they do not believe the Mavs will offer Jordan a multi-year deal after his contract expires in the offseason, which is what both he and his agent will want.

The Jordan the Mavs landed this offseason is no longer the same DeAndre Jordan they thought they had in the bag a few years ago when he said yes, and then no, in free agency.

Since he was at Texas A&M, he’s always been a better athlete than a basketball player. An NBA basketball player can age well. The NBA athlete does not age as well as the player.

Jordan’s strength is as supreme athlete who can run for a month, and jump to Jupiter. DAJ ranks second in the NBA in rebounding, at 14 per game. His problem isn’t rebounding. His problem is catching the ball on offense, and playing as a man who will be 31 this summer.

DAJ averages a double-double, and is a big reason why the Mavs are only two games under .500 with a shot of reaching the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Letting Jordan walk will be considerably easier if the Mavs can find his replacement by moving DSJ right now.

I just read the article myself. DJ would be another good mid-season pick-up for the Celts in addition to Vucevic.

Would bring toughness and defense which we are sorely lacking

They won’t, lol. They’re so hung up on trading him because they’re very shortsighted.

All these proposals are either painfully bad for the C’s or just don’t make sense for either party
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Dennis Smith Jr. to the Pacers for Sabonis. Who says no?

Why for the Mavs
- they get a replacement for Jordan
- DSJ is a bad fit next to Doncic

Why for the Pacers
- they clear the logjam at the 5 (Sabonis + Myles Turner)
- they get a replacement for Collison (out of contract next summer, turns 32 in August)

Alternatively: Dennis Smith Jr. to the Pacers for Myles Turner. It's basically the same logic. Both trades work on the trade machine.

Btw, I'd love us to trade for either Sabonis or Turner. Let's say Rozier + pick(s) for either one of them (preferably for Sabonis cause Turner has signed a 4 year/72 million extension, hence our luxury tax would explode through the roof next season). Not confident that the Pacers would do it. Just saying.

Both Sabonis and Turner are wayyyyyyy more valuable than Dennis Smith Jr.

Also, a big NO to this trade.

Don't. Trade. Players. At. Their. Lowest. Value.
