It's not even that Jaylen Brown is indefensible as a pick. He's a defensible #3 pick. But we needed more than defensible. We were promised more than defensible. We had a chance to acquire a defensive gamechanger at center, a position where we do not currently have a starter. Instead we picked an athletic backup SF who could maybe someday years from now average 15-20 points a game on pretty good efficiency and play pretty good defense. We had a chance to take bold risks and try to convert this roster into a contender now for next season. But the front office and/or the ownership misplaced their balls. I hope they realize this isn't Cleveland. When the '17 season ends without the Celtics spraying champagne, it will have been ten seasons since the last championship. And there will not have been any tragic premature deaths to excuse the failure like the 90's.
