The NBA playoffs have been a part of the season since 1946, and no team has ever been able to overcome a three game deficit in a series.

Specifically, teams have a 0-150 overall record when down 0-3 in a playoff series, per SportsCenter.

The closest an NBA team has come;

2003 NBA Playoffs

First Round

(3) Dallas Mavericks vs. (6) Portland Trail Blazers

Dallas lead the series 3 - 0, Portland would go on to tie the series 3 - 3, with a Game 7 in Dallas.

These were the main participants for Game 7

Portland Trail Blazers

Damon Stoudamire
Bonzi Wells
Rasheed Wallace
Zach Randolph
Arvydas Sabonis

Rubin Patterson
Scottie Pippen

———

Dallas Mavericks

Steve Nash
Michael Finley
Eduardo Najera
Dirk Nowitzki
Raef LaFrentz

Nick Van Exel
Shawn Bradley

———

At the end of 3 quarters, Portland were up 73 - 71. But Dallas would score 36 in the 4th to secure the game and the series.

So it's been 20 years since a team was 0-3 and came back 3-3 at least.

Defense, defense, defense. Win or lose, I just want to see the same effort they played with tonight.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Does anyone know of all the 3-0 teams, how many went on to win in 4, 5, 6 or 7 games? No one came back to win the series I know but i’m curious how many forced a Game 6 or 7. can’t imagine there’s many

Great series. That was the Zach Randolph series. He went to high end bench player to emerging star. An 8pts 5reb guy to a 20-10 guy and almost led Portland to that upset. Followed it up by becoming a full time 20-10 dude the following year. His breakout party. Dallas had no answer for him. Nobody could guard him. Too strong, too physical, too crafty. Bullied everyone Dallas tried on him.

Only 19 years since the Red Sox did it lol.

I have no faith, but that almost makes me think it’s more likely.

Something like 60% of the 3-0 teams won in a sweep, so we’ve already beaten the odds.  Only a couple percent of the series went to 7.

Teenage Donoghus has memories of the ‘94 Nuggets forcing a Game 7 on Utah.   This happened right after they broke my heart by eliminating the #1 seed Sonics the previous round. I was a huge Sonics Kemp fan.

Celtics '13 and Magic '10 were the ones that I can recall that forced Game 6.

there is a chance!!!  ;D

NBA teams have overcome 1-3 deficits 13 times, only one of which occurred in the NBA Finals. The NBA is the only major North American sport with seven-game playoff series where no team has overcome a 3–0 deficit. The Celtics won two games on the road during the comeback, and also won the NBA Finals

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yeah. I still have a white Sonics Kemp jersey myself.  Got it as a present in junior high. Wore it to Lollapalooza several years ago. Pretty snug on me at this point, though. Gotta love your forties  :P

Funny you say that because I've looked at it, but not been brave enough to try it on in fear of what I'd see. I'm guessing it won't fit as loose as it once did....just a hunch
