Only 16 years old, but currently measured at 7’2 (and still growing).

Not unlike Tim Duncan, he was originally a nationally ranked swimmer before deciding to focus on basketball. Considering his height and youth, looks to be a very fluid athlete.

His father, Björn Zikarsky is a former freestyle swimmer from Germany, who won the bronze medal in the 4×100 m freestyle relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. His mother, whom stands at 6’1 is a former champion triathlete.

5' 10" former point guard

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine

He looks very clunky. Maybe he hasn't caught up to his growth...

Great find, I like what I see. Feels every bit of 7 foot 2 but has that nice controlled speed to his movement. Could absolutely see him developing into a rotation player/fringe all star.

Funny how former swimmers seem to make the most 'fluid' athletes.  ;D

2 votes for fluid. 1 vote for clunky.

Typical Celtics talent evaluation. Lol. Here’s another vote for clunky. I don’t know what Kornet looked like at 16, but he looks like a gazelle next to this kid now.

It’s because he’s 7’2 (going on 7’3), and doesn’t turn 17 for another eight months.

Go and watch highlights of Holmgren and even Wembanyama at 15-16, they don’t move anywhere near as well as they do now.

What’s also another significant factor is that he hadn’t focused on basketball until 15 years old.

I think what you have to look for with prospects like this is not how fast their feet move but how fast their hands move.  How fast their reactions are.  It is similar to an outfielder in baseball.  The "jump" the outfielder gets on the ball is more important than how fast they are (although both are important of course).

I saw a young man whose hands and reactions/reads looked pretty good.  Hard to tell much more considering the sample size and the competition.
