Assuming Ayton is the #1 pick (as he is in most mocks) personally keep switching between Bagley and Doncic. Bagley is a great switch defender and all around offensive player, but Doncic dominated euro league which is harder than d1... And he is also a well rounded player
The other option I thought was we can Trade down a few spots for a future pick and select the available player out of bamba, jackson, or Carter. The rookie contact would be slightly cheaper but these players are still great options. And getting a future pick is Ainges favorite hobby

Doncic. Not even close. We're talking about proven elite professional basketball player.

I agree. the guy is unquestionably going to be a great nba player, and would be nice for him to learn the art and handles of the elite point guard from kyrie. Doncic with a little kyrie handles and a "little marcus smart defensive instinct" might be a beast.

Yep. He looks like he’s going to be monstrously good. Already is in probably the second best league in the world, and he’s a teenager.
-
I think I would prefer to trade down, get the lower $ contract, and pick up Porter or Bamba. I am still pretty sure Porter will be the best player in the draft, but that's probably just because I am stuck on last year's rankings.

Doncic.or.bust.

It looks like Donic to me too but I'm sure Danny and his scouts know best.
-
If we retain Smart then trade down. If Smart is gone go with Doncic
-
I'd love Doncic if he's available, but part of me wonders how he'd fit with Hayward, Tatum, and Brown already having the 3 wing spots locked down.
I realize that can be classified under 'first world problems', and you're probably better off to just take the the BPA and figure it out later, but eventually someone would likely end up unhappy with their minutes and role.
I'd almost be inclined to think if Boston ends up with the #2 pick a trade down a few spots for additional assets might not be the better choice. Either that, or use the #2 pick in a package for a superstar.
-
Ayton is like the perfect addition to this current young core. I’d try to trade up and even give up the Memphis pick to move up a slot or two to select Ayton.
If not, take Doncic and figure it out later. He’s unbelievably good at basketball and a proven winner at only 19. His resume is insane and his basketball iq is generational.

Based on the return Boston just got for trading out of the #1 pick, I don't see the Cetlics having the disposable assets necessary to trade up to #1.

its an interesting proposition. We have 2 to 4 first round picks in 2019, and 1 first rounder in 2019. Our team could get clogged with too many players soon so consolidation might be needed. We have multiple backup guards and a bench full of players.
-
I'm not 100% convinced Ayton will be the #1 pick. He's the smart bet, but it wouldn't shock me if Doncic is the pick. Assuming Ayton is off the board I'd consider Jaren Jackson, perfect modern NBA big with shot blocking and 3 pnt ability.

He looks well-suited to be a PG. With Kyrie's injury history and the upcoming FA of Smart/Rozier, he'd be a nice luxury to bring along slowly. Maybe he'll even get the Yips. We'd then have a core that could functional well on or off the ball, too.

Yeah, he could be awesome. Was arguably the best rim protector in the NCAA and will still be 18 come draft day. Bucket loads of potential
-
Too much of a logjam at the guard/forward position.
Get me a big man in this draft esp when Horford becomes old and slow and ineffective.
-
IMO, unquestionably Doncic, but if we landed Bagley, I'd do cartwheels.
Danny won't pass up a player of LD's talent. Saying he's the best Euro prospect ever (or at least since the elder Sabonis) isn't an exaggeration.
And Bagley is such an explosive leaper and rebounder it gives us a dimension we don't have right now.
Shame our odds are so small.

This makes the most sense to me too, especially if the team with the first pick doesn’t really need a 5.
-
Bag me all day.
-
If Ayton is gone I'd take Porter
-
It rhymes with buttonhole stitch.

Good one!
-
For this one, we'll need a lot of luck.
-
Doncic
Ayton
Bagley
In that order based on availability. I list Ayton because I think there's an outstanding chance he doesn't go #1
-
I'd love to have DeAnde Ayton.
He's just going to be a fit for us moving forward at the C spot. We won't have Al Horford for long, so he can be his understudy for a couple of years and take over after Al's deal expires.
But if can't, I personally wouldn't mind Marvin Bagley too. Superb talent. Mohamed Bamba fits in to what we need as well, along with being a top prospect.
I also would not mind trading it as well, maybe trade down and still stay in the top 10 (to be able to get Mikal Bridges) and maybe get a future 1st in the process.
-
I voted Doncic, if he were to join the Cs they would have a ridiculous wealth of wings. Minutes and rotations might be an issue but its a problem that I'm sure BS could figure out.
but
I suspect he will go number 1 and that a ton of lottery luck would leave the Celtics picking between Ayton and Jackson.
If this situation presented itself despite my affinity for Jackson Jr. I would have to take Ayton. Jackson is 1 year younger and the fare superior defender but Ayton has the physical tools to be an all time great NBA center. Getting him to properly develop to maximize those tools would be the job on BS who I trust to properly develop Ayton. If drafted by a losing Franchise I fear Ayton will develop into a offensively dominate center who's dominate stat lines will not translate into winning basketball. However on the Cs he would initially be a role player on offense something that would greatly benefit his game.

Ayton's potential with that physical profile and high offensive skill level is quite frightening. Would be awesome if we somehow snagged him - seeing him go against Embiid for years to come would be super fun
-
I feel more and more crazy every day about it but I think I have Jackson at #1 on my board. So i'm doing whatever option there is to get him. If that means drafting him at 2 or 3 if I don't have a trade back available then so be it.
-
The ESPN Mock Lottery combination board I tried like 80 times and the few times we came in it showed we go with Donic @ #2 and it seems Jaren Jackson @ #3.
Depending on who gets #1 it's either Ayton 1 and Doncic 2 or vice versa.
-
I might literally have a heart attack if we could snag Ayton in the draft. That’d be too perfect.
I have been wondering about potentially moving up to the mid lottery area for a big if the pick doesn’t convey. I have my eyes on Bamba, as I could see a couple of teams passing on him or not being thrilled about taking him.
Depending on the team, I wonder if something like the Sacramento pick, our pick this year, and Rozier (I might even add the Clippers pick if need be, too) would be enough to move up to around the 5-8 range to select Bamba. He needs some development time, but he’d fill a really big need at C for us for a long time moving forward, along with having the potential to deal with Embiid down the road after putting on size.
Imagine a lineup of Kyrie, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, and Bamba once Horford’s contract expires! :o
-
Also this would be alot more fun if there was a more than 2% chance if it happening. Maybe Ainge will go big and put together a Rozier/Sac package for a big that falls into that back half if the lottery. A young big with length is really the last piece we need in our rebuild

This years draft has a lot of cream at the top. It's going to be near impossible to move into the top half of the draft.
-
I seriously would take Mo Bamba second behind Deandre Ayton.
His wingspan + fluidity for a big man are just ridiculus, furthermore he is a very smart defender and can defend every position. I know his offense is a work in progress, but his jumper looks smooth so I'm optimistic.
If he puts it all together he could be perennial DPOY who can space the floor and finishes in the paint.
He could become the next Rudy Gobert, Dikembe Mutumbo, Manute Bol or dare I say Bill Russel? :o
-
Ainge would trade down to 4 or 5 and get another lottery pick next year.

It’s more than a 2% chance.
It’s ... 2.9%!!

While I think Doncic is the best player in the draft and would love him or Ayton, if I'm being honest I could see Danny drafting Mo Bamba because he's already a defensive nightmare for teams and he can become Dikembe 2.0. That being said we all know Danny isn't conventional and would probably draft someone we'd never expect LOL.

That high in the draft Ainge is picking best player available. If he feels Doncic is the best player, he is not gonna care if Mamba has Dikembe potential or Ayton has Towns potential or Jackson has Chris Webber with better defense potential. If he feels Doncic has higher upside and will be the best player, that's who he is taking.
-
I'll say it again if Ayton is gone Michael Porter, Jr. is the correct pick.
-
Does anyone actually believe that this will happen? I mean, I know that the lottery machine loves the Lakers, but still. It would take a Derrick Rose to Chicago let's say "miracle" ;) ::) for any of this to actually occur, lol.
That said, it would be beyond hilarious if the pick were to somehow convey, but I doubt it.
-
Package it and trade for zinger and future pick.

Nope. The lottery is super fixed, proven by science. Cleveland hasn't had #1 in a while, right? Once LBJ leaves they'll be due.

Imagine the pick conveys.
And when you look at our roster. We'd have Kyrie/Hayward/Horford. Brown/Tatum/Rozier. And now you add one of those 5 or 6 big talents from this draft.
Dynasty, baby. Multiple titles for years to come.

Haha Tp! But man do I hate the lakers right now... If we get the 2nd or 3rd pick I'll never complain about the draft beeing rigged again ;D

With another top 3 pick, We would be too strong...
We would have the Death-team, not the Death-lineup.
Outwinging the league to death.

Just start:

Hayward
Tatum
