Still wouldn’t count out Lakers just yet..Russell, Reaves, Hachimura, Prince can have big games plus getting  Vanderbilt & Wood back also..but hoping Nuggets win tomorrow then it’s over 😁

Lakers have lost 10 straight to Denver. Even if they win tomorrow, I don't see them winning 4 out of the next 5 against the Nuggets.

Seriously.  Not to mention huge games from Lebron and Davis (through three quarters at least) didn't get the job done but we're supposed to fear what can happen if one of those guys go off?

I do think LA will win the next game and will also probably get an extremely favorable extend the series whistle. As we have seen with embid and to a lesser extent Leonard it is tough to come back from being out for injury and then jumping into playoff basketball. May be tough for Vanderbilt to come back and make a defensive impact.
It isn't easy for anyone, but it is also a lot harder for the best player than it is a role player like Vanderbilt. The Sixers and Clippers (and Bucks when Giannis is back) absolutely need and rely on Kawhi and Embiid, way more than the Lakers need Vanderbilt.  They just need solid minutes if decent play from Vanderbilt for him to make a difference. The Clippers and Sixers need their guy to be a monster. That is just so much harder to do right away.

While gambling is more prevalent, that might also make it less likely to see big fixing of games.  Most of the new gamblers are casual, but with all the new gamblers and tax money, there is a lot more federal oversight so it could actually lead to less of this stuff than was happening before. Also far more likely to catch it and for it to be known widely.

I do think eliminating prop bets for college players makes some ense as that is where you may see it (especially over multi days).

Celtics by 40.....Spoelstra's plan to shoot more 3's backfires just like Warriors plan to let JB shoot wide open shots.

Very interesting that first round WRs is the lowest hit rate.  I guess a player could not get a second contract because they aren't that good or also because the are a FA and get a better offer?

I am fine with taking WRs in the second and third round.  Best case in my mind, assuming we keep the current picks, is QB with the first pick, OL with the second pick, and then a WR or other positions.

Good point.  A guy like Roquan Smith comes to mind.  He gave the Bears five excellent years, but they weren't going to pay him.  So, he got traded.

I'd probably change the criteria a bit in terms of what a hit is.
calling Smith a miss because he was traded seems odd.

FWIW, Breer is pretty plugged into Pats stuff and he says he's pretty confident in saying the Pats will take Maye at 3.

Mayesachusetts!  8)

Sources: The #Lions have a deal for one of the top young talents, agreeing on an extension for WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. He gets 4 years and more than $120M with $77M guaranteed.

The deal ... makes St. Brown the highest-paid WR in the NFL.

If the Pats like Maye and Daniels as franchise players then they shouldn't trade. If they don't they should.

Agree.  All this trade down nonsense I'm not buying.  Pats have no pressure. Both of those QBs seem very solid. Just take the one that Washington passes on.  Washington has more pressure than NE.  Easy peasy.

Boston gets Miami's best shot tonight. And getting up 2-0 would mean it is pretty much over. Boston will get at least one in Miami. But I have an uneasiness about the game tonight.

Think tonight we will really see if Boston has indeed learned their lessons of letting down at home and allowing inferior teams to steal games from them.

I think there is a possibility it goes back to Miami 1-1. Boston wins game 3 and Game 4 becomes pretty much the Heat's season.

Celtics lead whole game but Miami keeps it mostly in single digits. Boston responds to every Miami run and pulls away late to win by 10-15 points.

Curious if people are legitimately concerned about refs being on the take for gambling now or we are just seeing incompetence/a very difficult game to ref. One thing to think about, NBA refs have salaries between 150k and 500k. Are they more vulnerable to a money offer than most players?

As always, the scary thing is that there's really no way to tell simply via observation.  Donaghy was intentionally influencing games for at least four seasons, and nobody in the league office had any suspicion.

We've got to rely on law enforcement and the casinos' own algorithms.  It's so easy for a ref to affect point spreads and certain prop bets.
