The Tampa Bay Lightening won 62 games this year.  That tied the 96 Red Wings for the most wins ever in a season.  They played the 8th seeded Columbus Blue Jackets in the 1st round.  Columbus dominated the series, sweeping the series and outscoring the Lightening 19-8 (including a 7-3 beat-down in game 4 to close it out).

So what say you, greatest series upset ever or can you think of one that is greater?

It's certainly up there.

Some others that immediately come to mind.

Golden State over Dallas - '07 First Round
Canadiens over Capitals = '10 First Round
Nuggets over Sonics - '94 First Round
Nets over 76ers - '84 First Round

Maybe Virginia losing to a 16th seed last season biggest upset but biggest series maybe Denver beating Seattle in 1994

SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

Series is much more interesting discussion, IMO.  If you're talking simply single game upset, personally I think the convo starts & ends with "USA 4 USSR 3".

Clippers over Warriors...  8) ;D ;)

They already registered the biggest comeback ever in the history of the Playoffs. This was in itself was epic since its happened on the road against the mighty Top seeded Warriors...LOL

TP!

And one of the best moments ever at the end of that game:

“Where’s my father?”

This is the equivalent of the 73 win Warriors getting swept in the first round. It’s a giant upset.

I know next to nothing about hockey outside of what I learned from the Mighty Ducks trilogy and playing this bad boy as a kid, but one thing that seems more impressive about what the Blue Jackets just did is that they did it in a sweep.  All these other series the favored team still won 2-3 games.  So to pull off a sweep, that's something else.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah, the sweep is what really does it here. This isn't the Giants beating the '07 Pats in one game or UMBC beating Virginia in one game. The Blue Jackets took it TB four straight times, in convincing fashion.

I don't know if it's the biggest upset ever - hockey playoffs seem a little more random - but i'ts obviously right up there and very impressive!
