If this is now our unpopular opinion thread, I think melo is an upgrade over ariza.

Definitely is an unpopular opinion. I think Melo is basically cooked yet refuses to admit he’s a role player these days.

Jayson Tatum will average around 45% from three on high volume.
Hawks come out as robbers in the Trae/Doncic swap as Trae performs to a level close to Doncic and the Mavs yield them a lottery pick.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

The Celtics will not win a single game in the finals.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Bored. Slow offseason. Here are some bold predictions for this upcoming season..

The Lakers will struggle. They’ll make the playoffs but lose in the first round to a higher seeded team.

The Hawks will be just as bad as the 04-05 Hawks, winning only 13 games.

Jimmy Butler will be traded to the Knicks after the Wolves continue to struggle.

The Wizards will continue to struggle and try to trade John Wall.

Fultz will show significant promise and Simmons and Embiid will stay healthy. Sixers win 50+ games.

Chicago will exceed expectations, similar to the 14-15 Celtics, and make the playoffs.

Kevin Love will have a monster stat year, putting up 23 and 14 just like in his Minnesota days. Cavs won’t be half bad.

Bagley and Doncic will be far and away the best rookies. The rest of the 2018 class will struggle including Ayton. Bagley will win ROTY.

Denver has an incredible offensive season and IT4 will return to form they but will miss the playoffs again.

Most fans continue to completely forget that Blake Griffin is still in the league.

Victor Oladipo finishes in the top 5 in MVP voting.

Chris Paul will struggle to stay healthy and his contract will start to look like one of the worst of all time.

Doc Rivers will be fired

Justice Winslow and Stanley Johnson FINALLY have breakout years.

Westbrook wins 2nd MVP award

Raptors struggle and it becomes apparent by mid season that Kawhis leaving.

Julius Randle thrives playing next to AD, has a monster year.

Lillard requests a trade after Portland loses yet again in 1st round

Jerian Grant will have a terrific year and solidify himself as the starting PG in Orlando.

Spurs win 55+ games.

Brad Stevens finally wins COTY.

Warriors win 70 games but things get heated behind the scenes and chemistry becomes an issue. It costs them in the finals against the Celtics who click on all Cylinders.

Whose got some more?

TP, I like your recent contributions to the board during these slow times.

An injury will happen to the Celtics. It always does.

Maybe it's Horford's turn now because he's been in the clear for a few years already. Knock on wood.

Horford should have already appeased the Basketball Gods when Zeller concussed him. I fear Theis is an obvious choice, but if we get through the year and he’s our biggest injury that’s kind of a coup.

Brown Kyrie Tatum = ASG selections. GH and AH start out slow, but BOS record is so good that the three mentioned sneak in.

C's beat Philly (SF) and Toronto (F) both in 5. Finals GSW wins 4-2.

Draft: Celtics #30 (GSW coasting), Memphis #11 (not good enough in WC), Sacramento #6 (likely range 2-10)

Clippers pick will become a 2022 2nd after 2019-2020.

Trae Young and Collin Sexton frontrunners for ROY.

That is very bold
That is very likely imo

1. Toronto implodes with kawi drama
2. Fultz has a season that everyone thought he will have in his rookie year
3. Young - Doncic trade will be a tatum - fultz version 2.0 trade(with Mavs being the celtics)
3. Houston gets a taste of melodrama.
4. Morris is a gonner by trade deadline(cap reasons)

Why? Why do you think Trae Young will succeed at the NBA level at a comparable rate to Doncic?

I think Trae Young will absolutely fail to reach expectations. Mo Williams' and he will have comparable peaks I think

The ceiling is so muc higher for doncic, special player, unique skillset and ability.
Young might become just another buddy hield. Doncic is going to be a european version of LBJ
