Great thread idea.

I'll go with Take it Easy by the Eagles.

Relatedly, I often have an hour commute now and was recommended to try books on tape.  Anyone know if there is a good and reasonably priced option out there?  Aubile sounds expensive.
(Can start a new thread so as not to derail, slam)

Mrs. Banners was happy to find the public library offer audio books on download.

Free.

Oh, and thought Radar Love when I saw the thread title, so tp's to slam and nick for also being old.

TPs to everyone for the input.

Love Fairies Wear Boots -- favorite Sabbath tune.

Mobile and Bohemian are good ones too.  Bohemian always brings back flashback of the scene in Wayne's World

beat me to it -- Mrs. Slam does the same thing through the library.  best part -- you can join several library networks to broaden your selection.

A few that come to mind:

Baba O'Riley - The Who
Club Can't Handle Me - Flo Rida
Summertime - Will Smith
Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones
The Age of Aquarius - The Fifth Dimension

And Rage Against the Machine when you need to do some aggressive driving (TP johnnygreen)
Summertime came up as one of my friend's favorites for slow cruising.

for just cruising, I like Tumbling Dice and Happy by the Stones.

Here's my list:

Driving Sister -Mott the Hoople
Long White Cadillac- The Blasters
Go All the Way- The Raspberries
Living In the USA-Steve Miller Band
Roadrunner- The Modern Lovers
Lord of the Highway- Joe Ely
Git It- Dave Edmunds
Six Days on the Road-The Flying Burrito Brothers
Goon Squad- Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Ubangi Stomp-Billy Swan

I'll stop at 10.  :)

One-two-three-four-five-six!
Roadrunner, roadrunner
Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive past the Stop 'n' Shop
With the radio on
I'm in love with Massachusetts
And the neon when it's cold outside
And the highway when it's late at night
Got the radio on
I'm like the roadrunner

Pretty much any Tom Petty (let’s say “Runnin Down a Dream”)
Lightning Crashes - Live
Hunger Strike - Temple of the Dog
Say it Ain’t So - Weezer

Came here to specifically mention Radar Love, thinking it might not be a song known to many in the under 30 years of age group. Then see its mentioned in the OP. TP slam.
TP to another 'old man' of the blog Nick.

I'll add a TP to the bucket.  We "more experienced", as I prefer to say, guys need to stick together.   ;)

I thought of Radar Love second after "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf which was also the sound track to the film "Easy Rider" that was like an anthem..to some of us.

Also, as anyone who's listened to Billy Idol (Dancing with Myself, Rebel Yell, etc.) will tell you , if his music doesn't get your blood pumping (and foot to the floor), nothing will.   ;D

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
The best song to kick off a long road trip is Rusty Cage by Soundgarden.  Ideally starting right when you hit the ramp to your first open highway.

Easily the greatest driving song ever written and recorded. It's not even close.

Quote
I crack a window and feel the cool air cleanse my every pore
As I pour my poor heart out
To a radio song that's patient and willing to listen
My volume drowns it out
Yeah, but that's O.K. cause I sound better than him anyway, any day
Yeah, my voice is as sweet as salt
I search for comfort and I find it where I've found it many times before
Times before can be forgotten

My pile shakes as I hit eighty on the open road
This is an open road song
The only color that matters is GREEN

New MxPx could qualify for this too. Simple pop/punk but I love it.

The Rockies ain't too far from here if we drive all night
The cold air will do you well in the mountain morning light

So let's ride
Let's ride on through the rain
Come on and take me anywhere that you want to be
So let's ride
The only color that matters is GREEN
