I think he has about 30 minutes to decide. I have seen no news reports? Anyone know the scoop?

I don't see it happening.  He is going to save that money (plus the tax on the money) and instead offer as much of the MLE needed to sign Posey.

The draft was a pretty clear sign on TA's Celtic future.

he could very well offer him a different deal afterwards - picking up the option is just one way to get tony on board.

For the good of the kid's career I hope Danny doesn't ... allowing the kid more freedom in getting an offer elsewhere.

Tony Allen is a great fail-safe for Posey if he leaves. Tough not to make that qualifying offer, Danny should make it.

Let's see. Not long to wait now.

Given who we drafted I say no.

I think Tony's postseason benching and consequentdrafting of Giddens and Walker have all but guaranteed the end of the Tony Allen era in Boston.

It's too bad about the injuries. He could have been a special find for the team if he hadn't had the physical setbacks.

I was so happy for him the season before when he seemed to have put it all together, really taking charge. And then the injury....  Not enough time to get back that confidence.

He'd still have all the freedom to look for offers.

Danny doesn't need to make the QO even if he intends to keep Allen. He can resign him with a cheaper contract.

Teams are hesitant to make offers for restricted free agents. It limits the contract offers.

If Pietrus was unrestricted last year there's a good chance he would have been starting elsewhere last season (Miami, Dallas).

Well it's officially midnight, let the answers to all our questions begin.  Happy Free Agent Season everyone.  It'll be a fun one watching everyone making moves trying to catch the CHAMPS.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I guess Danny is sleeping and we'll let the rest of the world know what he decided once he wakes up.

Well, looking forward to meeting the rooks tomorrow.

I wonder if any other teams have any interest in him so maybe DA figured he could not make the qualifying offer and maintain some more roster flexibility.  I could see a team like the Spurs (who need some young athletic types who can defend) might have interest, but Tony is so inconsistent that I doubt many teams will be banging down his door.

Personally, I hope he doesn't.

Tony Allen is overrated by many on this board.  I like his defense and his athleticism, but his turnover rate and low basketball IQ is the spitting image of the type of player that gets overpaid in free agency.

I'd rather pursue Michael Peitrus, Corey Maggette, or Josh Childress as a fail safe for Posey with Eddie House getting a little raise via non Bird Rights to keep the LLE.
