It's out of the Celtics hands. They have to show Kyrie he belongs here. They are gonna give him as big a deal as they can, and it's up to him if he wants it.

TP!  Kyrie also deserves credit for stepping in to take charges on a consistent basis.  Before the haters jump in, I feel the need to acknowledge that most of us are aware that Kyrie will never be an above average individual defender.  The elite P&R ball handlers are always going to be too much for him to handle.  That said, it's a HUGE positive for our team when Kyrie is committed to playing team defense with max effort.

He is summoning his inner Marcus Smart.
As you said, his anticipation, footspeed, presence of mind, is astounding.
And then he is not conceding anything on offense, on the contrary, he is the usual playoff Kyrie there.

the usual playoff Kyrie there.

Wait, you mean when the games matter the team plays harder?  :o

I wonder where all of the “We’re going to lose to the Pacers” and “Kyrie makes us worse” folks are now. Probably building up energy to launch their next nonsensical attack.

You luckily must have missed some of the “he dribbles the air out of the ball” posts in the last couple of game threads.

Agree 100% that he has quick hands and instincts.  He's definitely one of those guys that sees a split second before everyone else.

But... they're playing the Indiana Pacers...  I'm going to reserve judgement until they play a team that isn't comprised of a bunch of castoffs and JAGs.

He seems to really love playing with Smart and Smart seems to have rubbed off on him a lot. All season, Kyrie's hustle has been at another level and now, without Smart, Kyrie is taking it up a notch. Really great to see.

Kyrie is, at this moment, living his best life: lead by example on the court, not through the media.

He has gone from simply "trying" to be a pest on defense to actually "BEING" a pest on defense.

Dude regularly tallies a steal or 2 and gets blocks at a decent rate for a PG...

His offense is - and has been - Elite.

Watching him the last several weeks AND the playoffs dude gets deflections...hounds opponents...

The only players in BOS that I've seen doing THIS over the years are the ones who WANT to be here...

He is REALLY growing into leadership. Keep it up, young fella.

And keep giving GH, JB, Big Al, Tatum, Smart and the rest of the gang opportunities to shine. He is doing a fine job.

And above all - keep having FUN.

I have NOT seen him smile so much as he has the last few weeks.

You can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink it.

Ball is in Kyrie's court. Obviously Danny and ownership have already drawn up the papers and are holding out the pen.

Last night 4th quarter was the best of Kyrie. He picked his moments to lead the charge, while letting his teammates have their moments as well.  It was awesome!!

This is the effort level he was showing earlier in the season. Glad to see it back now, especially with Marcus gone meaning all the guards need to step up.

with all the history that sets in those rafters, you would think he would want to put his number up there with all the rest of the greats.why anyone would want to be part of that sh!t show in nyc is beyond me.no history, sucess, front office, coaching, ownership, talent, you can just keep going on and on about how bad of a franchise it is.maybe Durant and kyrie feel bad for them.one can hope they sleep on it for weeks before they make a decision

Kyrie also has Hayward on a different level now and that must be another plus in the Celtics favor.
Kyrie has Tatum,Brown  and Smart with Horford and Hayward. That is a decent mix of vets prime and youth.
Add Brad,Ainge and Wyc.
If it was tough this season try the youth of Knicks.
