It is interesting how journalists constantly write articles to downgrade the celtics players value.. i read an article at basketballinsiders for 4 potential butler trades and he writes bs... 3 scrub trades for wolves and a potential trade with celtics where we give up smart and brown... i would not trade brown for butler and 3 firsts... have these guys even a minimum knowledge of contract values, playing value, cap space etc when they write this stuff???

A large chunk of NBA journalists are generally not worth paying attention to. I try to not get worked up about it, because the league and the way things play out constantly prove them to be foolish & wrong

The thing is that a team's demands depend on the buyer.  The Kings have to sell and they don't have that many option. So they will try to get the best they can. The richer the buyer the bigger the return Kings will ask for.

Obviously i am not making this trade but that is what i'd ask as the Kings

LOL me too.  I wouldn't trade Brown for Butler straight-up, much less throw in Smart or picks.  Perhaps I should become a sports journalist.

If we wanted to go all in this year, or were worried about Kyrie leaving to play with Butler, a deal like this could make sense. Butler is clearly worth more for the 2018-19 season than Brown+Smart

I think trading Brown and Smart for Butler would be a huge mistake (especially given our proximity to the tax line and Butler being a FA after this season), but that trade idea isn't as ridiculous as you make it sound. If it were Tatum+Smart for Butler, THEN it would be completely laughable
I'm bitter.

That might actually be a fair trade in terms of value.  Odds are still pretty high this brown will never be as good as butler.  Smart of course is a little undervalued.

I wouldn’t do it more because of the inclusion of smart but it’s not crazy.

I def wouldn't consider it.

We aren't a better team with Butler in place of Brown and Smart. Also, I'm never going to want to give up the future in order to go 'all in' today. Here's hoping that Danny didn't even stop to think about it when Butler demanded out, the Celts shouldn't even be considering it.

I'm not that worried about Kyrie leaving at the end of the season as long as we hold onto Rozier. We still have a very talented starting five that should be able to pick up the scoring slack and improve on D, not sure we are even a worse team.
