Title: Could Danny finally land Justise Winslow?
Post by: Fireworks_Boom! on January 11, 2018, 06:47:55 AM
I’m curious with the Heat being unable to figure out his shooting woes and his reduced playing time (impacted by injury), if he might be for sale? His rookie contract will be expiring and it wouldn’t seem they would want to commit following this. A change of scenery might be what’s best.

A package of Rozier/Nader for Winslow/Haslem would work financially speaking.

Why?   It's clear Ainge was wrong offering the farm for him.  Do we really need another suspect shooter?

So Rozier looks like he is turning the corner and you want to trade him for a guy who quite simply is a bad basketball player?

Adding to the chorus, we don't need him and he would take minutes from JB/JT not TR.

A Winslow for Rozier swap would create a hole in our guard rotation and the impending Hayward return will make things even more confusing for our wings.

I do think Ainge would probably take the player that is Winslow over the player that is Rozier, though. Winslow is definitely not a 'bad' basketball player.

Winslow is an defensive presence on the Heat and they literally depend on him to take on the toughest assignments. He's also great at running fast breaks and making smart passes or plays in transition. Basically, he would be a perfect small ball 4 in Stevens system, which is basically what would happen if he got traded but it's been clear to me from the start that Rozier is Ainge's binkie. So nah not gonna happen.

We need a scorer off the bench, Winslow doesn't help with that. We already have a defensive stud in Smart, who has played some PF which is funny.

No thanks, don't need him or want him I wouldn't even trade Smart for him and half the time I'd trade Smart for a bag of balls.

Smart has already been our C for some stretches and has played well.

If you start a thread about trades, rotations etc, sooner or later it is bound to come around to the topic of Marcus Smart.

FWIW, this quote was from yesterday's Zach Lowe piece:

Quote
Multiple rival executives labeled Winslow as Miami's version of Jahlil Okafor.

This is where I disagree with Lowe. Winslow is not starting because he just cannot score, lacks the touch and shooting form. He needs a shooting coach.

I love Justice Winslow, but I dont really see how he makes sense at this point in time.

You just have to wonder about some of these posts. LOL.

I think he just means that he was a highly regarded draft pick who doesn’t look like a very good nba player.  He’s definitely a dissapointment like Okafor was to the Sixers.

You do it if it's buy low, and I don't think it's crazy to include Rozier for Winslow, even think right now Rozier is a more useful player to us.

Rozier is barely a backup PG, and on offense he clearly plays SG. Moving Smart for Winslow creates that problem, as Smart is our primary backup PG.

Brad would get the most out of Winslow, but I doubt it happens. Ainge and Riley just don't work well together.

Why? Next year we will have Tatum, Hayward, Brown, Rozier, Ojeleye and Nader all vying for playing time at the 2 or 3. Just too much clutter at those spots for a guy that can't score.

I'd be shocked if Nader is still on the team next year.

as would I and frankly if the team keeps Smart I wouldn't be surprised to see Rozier gone.  Also, while I like Semi, I'm not sure he is a long term player either.

I'll take him for...Nader.
