Chicago has discussed buying out porter...

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/261767/Otto-Porter-Bulls-Could-Agree-To-Buyout;-Warriors-Would-Have-Interest

I believe he'd be a good fit for the Celtics bench - long, versatile defender who can create space on offense (career 40% 3PT shooter).

I'm sure Porter will have more compelling offers (BKN, LAL, LAC) if bought out, but i would expect Ainge to pursue him and try to sell him on the idea of getting more playing time here than if he were to go somewhere else.

Any interest?

Why would they buy him out if he could help a contender? They are trying to compete for play in. Can’t he help them get to play ins?

I wondered about that myself when i read the headline. It's funny, on paper Porter is a good fir for that Bulls team, it just hasn't worked out. Looks like theyre both ready to move on. It's my belief that the Bulls would be better off giving those minutes to Patrick Williams since that kid has insane potential, there's a reason they reached for him with the 4th pick.

I would assume they would do it to save money.

It seems if "ANYONE ELSE" has interest then we are out of the running for some reason. Brooklyn can just keep adding guys and we are worried about TPEs and cap space. I really don't know how all this works and don't want to but how does Brooklyn or the Lakers just get everything and they don't seem to have any problems just fitting anyone and any salary into the mix.

Absolutely. There has to be interest in a player like Porter. He'd be perfect, and we wouldn't have to trade any assets.

It because it's an oozing cap. Not a hard cap that would actually bring parity.

Hes always been a good player (paid like a great one.) The issue recently for him has been health. He's played 16 games this year (small season so far) but 14 games last year and 15 the year prior.

Your favorite source, Kevin O'Connor, started this rumor. You may want to manage your expectations.
