If giannis were available I might consider moving brown.

But I like brown, I like guys who improve every season and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

I would trade Brown for Giannis, Doncic, Jokic or Zion. Maybe Beal. But thats about it

You’d take Zion, but not KAT? I like Zion, but his shooting and conditioning are a concern. He puts a ton of pressure on his knees/joints, feel like he’s a ticking time bomb.

Yes I would

The coaches (collective) agree also.  Choosing Zion as a reserve over Kat

Zion is ferocious.  Underrated passer.  Just a fan of his game

I wouldn’t trade Brown for either Kat (Drive) or Zion (Weight).

Call me crazy but both players are potentially flawed where Jaylen has achieved peak performance plays a highly valuable wing position and is on a reasonably cost controlled contract for a player his caliber.

Top 5 players aside as they are likely not attainable... interesting that I still feel like he is growing as a player too.

I was listening to NBA radio a few weeks ago, and the discussion was that the Pelicans now considered Ingram an untouchable, but not Zion. Said that Zion's dedication to his diet and staying in shape was essentially zero.

One of the reasons why Jaylen is so valuable is his character and his intangibles, including competitiveness, conditioning and sense of responsibility.

Zion, Jokic, Embiid, Doncic, KAT. Any one of them could be an MVP, and maybe some of them will, but all of them failed to get fully ready to play at some point. You can't always tell which way they will go. I wasn't sure about how much Jokic wanted to improve, but look at him now. KAT might be the most talented of the bunch, and doesn't display obvious behavioral issues, but just doesn't seem to want it badly either.

The point is it's a very fine line between success and failure at the top. A small slipup in taking care of yourself or in effort is the difference. Its nice to have a young star who is going to give it everything he has.

Jaylen is like a top 20 player.  FAR from untouchable.  Not even close to untouchable.

He is as untouchable as any player could be without being a MVP type player.

Which is to say, obviously you would trade him for one of the MVP candidates, but that's not an opportunity you're going to have.
Except Boston did in fact have that opportunity like 2 months ago.

That's it. That's the list of guys I would trade Jaylen for. Otherwise

Just Keep Jaylen Brown

Almost everyone else is, in my opinion, a lateral move or a step back. And JB plays the most important position in basketball currently, the two way wing. He is on a bargain contract, is a great leader and had made two remarkable leaps the last two seasons. If he makes a similar type leap in his game this off-season, it could propel him into top 10-12 players in the league.

Gotta keep him.

Arguably the best two-way player on the club and a future perennial all-star.  No way you trade him.

There are obviously guys I'd consider trading him for, but those trades would not be fair to the opposition ;D

It was great seeing how much he enjoyed the All-Star weekend after being robbed last year. Get used to it JB

Beyond the top players mentioned in this thread?

Where are you going to get Brown's combination of youth, offense and defense? who do you have in mind that can switch onto anybody.

There are guys who score more I guess, but they don't play defense at Brown's level. He defends centers, he defends point guards, he hits threes, he drives he's an all star. Yea let's trade him...what a great idea.

Harden the past couple of years and going forward is not an MVP candidate.

In the last three years he's won an MVP, finished 2nd and finished 3rd and voting. This year he is setting an equal career high in efficiency (with 2011-12) scoring 25PPG while leading the league in assists and grabbing 8 rebounds a game. He is by every definition an MVP candidate

But... JB scored 40 points in that 1 game! Aren’t we sure they’re about the same offensively while JB brings a lot more defensively?

Borderline all-star whose stock will never be higher and who will never be a superstar. Now is the time to trade him for a shot at a transcendental player, a superstar, the type of player who wins titles: Move him for the first overall pick and welcome Cade Cunningham to the Boston Celtics.
I support Brad, Danny and the Super Jay Bros.

IF Cade is in the Doncic category type of prospect maybe this makes sense. I dont have the knowledge to have an opinion on this.

but...   We can replace Brown with Beal once we open cap space in 2022.

He's not a borderline all-star, he IS an allstar.

And trade Jaylen for the type of player that has played zero NBA games & zero NBA experience?
