Signing Rivers would open up the possibility of trading Rozier to someone like Phoenix and not adversely affect guard depth.

I would probably consider this if there was a return to be had.  But then again, I was driving the "trade Terry + Sacto + Celtics pick for Wendell Carter or Jaren Jackson Jr" bus before the draft, so this isn't revolutionary for me.  Plus Rivers is ok, and might have a higher floor than Terry too, though obviously Terry has higher upside and if Kyrie is hurt, Rozier is way more valuable.

The voice in the back of my head that says it's a bad idea, beyond the possibility of a Kyrie injury, notes how well Rozier seems to play with Hayward and Brown when they're all on the 2nd unit together.  Hayward sets people up so Rozier doesn't have to, and Rozier is free to play off ball and look for his shot or to keep the ball moving to the open man.  He's played well with Hayward, but if Hayward will be moving back with the starters, I fear Rozier will tail off.
2023 Non-Active / Non-NBA75 Fantasy Draft, ChiBulls:

PG: Deron Williams 07-08 / M.R. Richardson 80-81 / J. Wall 16-17
SG: David Thompson 77-78 / Hersey Hawkins 96-97
SF: Tracy McGrady 02-03 / Tayshaun Prince 06-07
PF: Larry Nance Sr 91-92 / Blake Griffin 13-14
C: Bob Lanier 76-77 / Brad Daugherty 92-93 / M. Camby 06-07

As an emergency backup maybe I take Rivers on a minimum deal. But if it means taking minutes away from other layers, then no thanks.

Regarding the Rivers/Rozier debate, Rivers averages 3.6 assists per 36 minutes - the much-maligned Rozier averages 4.0.

Rivers averages 1.8 TO per-36. Rozier averages 1.3.

Rozier is the far better rebounder, is far more explosive, and and has way more upside.

Yep

Good signing for them

Four to five other teams are still expressing interest in Rivers, sources said. No formal offer yet from Memphis, with several days until Rivers clears waivers.
