I think this needs to be categorized as a "must-win" for the Celtics. Dropped 4 of their last 5.

Also, their last 4 losses were all at home as they haven't gotten a win in like a month at the TD Garden that required double overtime.

Kind of a random thought, but is it just me or do both Boston teams actually lose often at home (TD Garden) in some of the "bigger games"/high stake ones (playoffs included). Unfortunately it's been a trend for a while now. Celtics 2018 Game 7 lost at home. Bruins lost Game 7 of last year's Finals at TD Garden. And the B's I think in that Finals series only won 1 game at home.

Even in 2019, we're only like 3 games better at home than on the road according to the splits

Very strange.

TPFL! Absolute must win game! Let's hope for a bounce back game from Kemba.

Also, John Karalis of MassLive mentioned this and I noticed this too when I watched my DVR of the OKC game:

Quote
8. The Celtics got away from Gordon Hayward

Through three quarters, Hayward scored 23 points on 9-for-17 shooting. In the fourth, Hayward shot the ball twice and his only scoring was one free throw.

One of the strengths of the Celtics earlier this season was their ability to just work the ball to the right guy and if it meant one of their stars didn’t score his normal amount, it’s was fine because it would work out somehow down the road.

They’ve gotten away from that for various reasons, but it would have been smart of them to try to find Hayward more often in this one. He was the one guy who was hitting shots and he could get almost any one he wanted.

This is something that happens with our team a lot...going away from the hot hand. Hayward had the hot hand but in the 4th quarter he took 2 shots while Smart took 7. Smart did play the full 12 mins but too often we tend to go away from the hot hand. It's not like Hayward was getting the Tatum treatment (i.e. getting doubled).

I hope the team continues to remain unselfish and work for the best shot.

What Smart did in that 4th quarter was horrible. Agreed.  Hayward has to assert himself more as well; those other guys are strong personalities, and sometimes Gordon just decides to let them figure out what they need to do.

Other than Smart, the rest of the team is playing great. Excellent start.

Tatum should be able to put up 35 easy. Indy doesn't have anyone that can guard him.

Really good start. Tatum has much more of a defensive load with Brown out.

I say this once per game, it seems... but I keep waiting for the day when this team consistently finds Hayward when he cuts.  He cuts open all the time, and we don't get him the ball nearly often enough in those situations.

Exactly. We need another Hayward to find the cutting Hayward.

Stevens keeping Hayward on court for big minutes.

He responds by scoring all the points....turning into a ball stopping hog....which is the best thing i've seen in two weeks.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Ojeleye really making the statement that he should be in the playoff rotation.

Romeo needs to work on the pull up game like Jaylen Brown did.

Hayward is doing a great job controlling the offense.
