Title: AFL
Post by: gouki88 on September 24, 2018, 11:26:35 PM
I know the sport is a relative unknown for many, as it's pretty hard to approach and understand, but considering the Celtics link to this week's Grand Final I thought I'd post about it!

A former teammate of Marcus Smart at OSU, Mason Cox, will be starting at centre-half forward this weekend for the Collingwood Magpies, in arguably the biggest day of Australian sport (perhaps behind the Melbourne Cup). He's the tallest man to play AFL at the highest level, and he recently put in by far his best performance of his career, dominating the team that is regarded in a similar manner to the way Golden State is.

As a die-hard barracker for Collingwood, my affinity for the Celtics was natural. Both extremely successful (if Collingwood win this weekend they become the most successful AFL/VFL team), both feature many historical greats, and both have proud roots in the Irish Catholic community.

It's been a very long off-season, so I thought I'd share this little funny Celtic-Magpie link from across the Pacific ;D

Gee, I thought this was going to be a nostalgia thread about the old American Football League. Guess I was wrong.

Sorry to disappoint ;)

The American Football League well predates my interest in the American football code, to be honest
