The ultimate trap game for Boston. Still think they'll somehow drop this one because they tend to play down to their competition a lot. Haven't proven to me otherwise yet. They need a monkey on their back to get them going. I understand losing one game to this team and that is one of the two @Miami games, but I expect a sweep or gentleman's sweep.

I wouldn't go as far as saying BOS "has to win" game 1, they can lose game 1 and still win the series easily enough, but I agree to the extent that how they play in game 1 will send an important signal, set an important tone, for the entire playoffs.

MIA is going to come in with some juice after a big home win.  The Celtics haven't played a real game in about 2 weeks.  Then don't play again until Wed.  That all favors MIA for sure.    That is no excuse though.  BOS needs to come out with urgency.  They need come out like it is game 7.

I think winning game 1 sets the tone and propels them like it did vs the Nets a few years back. Do not give Miami any life. So that is why I think game one is super important.

I remember we were down by like 18 points at home in Game 2 before that wild comeback.

I would agree with you if they were playing the Bulls.
But they want the Heat. I don’t think they play down.

I would agree with you if they were playing the Bulls.
But they want the Heat. I don’t think they play down.

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that we haven't even begun the playoffs yet and we're labelling a Game 1 as a "trap game" 

If you want to call a game in the middle of a long series a trap game that's more understandable, or maybe in the later rounds when there isn't much of a break between series (or season to playoff transition).

I think Game 1 is a prime opportunity for Miami to steal one, given that the Cs will have been off a full week and will likely be rusty.
