Hey FLC - great game thread and TP - I love the festive stockings! But, Tatum is wondering where he is (picture only) in the starting line-up...I thought maybe we were giving Indiana a chance to go 5-4 against us to start the game ;)I'm not sure what you are seeing but when I look at the starting lineup, Tatum's picture and name are both there. Am I missing something that I'm missing :) ?

Not a problem because there are many a time I miss something. Thanks for taking the time to let me know even if it wasn't an error this time. Keep me on my toes :D And a TP to you for trying to be sure that every thing was ship shape.Hey FLC - great game thread and TP - I love the festive stockings! Weird - I just looked at my iphone and his picture is there, but it isn't on chrome or firefox on my PC. Sorry for pointing this out when you clearly are the ultimate master with game-threads; my PC just wants me to look dumb. Have an extra TP for good luck and GO Cs!!
Good start!Nah, defence let up too many point so far. ;)
Good start!
[dang it]!!! There goes the shutout. ;D
4 calls in a row on Indiana possessions. Its like the refs want to keep teams in the game.
Welp, it's time. Bench coming in.
Lol yet another terrible call. Baynes was a full foot outside of the restricted area, but they called it a blocking foul due to being in the restricted area. It wasn't even close.
It's simply amazing how inconsistent NBA officiating is anymore.
Ugh, Terry... What a terrible pass.
Gooooooooooood, Brad. This is how you stagger the starters to help the bench out.

Have Pacers committed a foul yet?
I'm just waiting for the bench implosion to begin soon. :P
Well, it's something.Have Pacers committed a foul yet?
3 resulting in 1 free-throw.
Lead goes *poof*
Lead goes *poof*
Arn't we up by 14?
Lead goes *poof*12 points is not a lead??
Lead goes *poof*12 points is not a lead??
Now back to 17. No need to worry.
I'm just waiting for the bench implosion to begin soon. :P
Lol just like that... 7-0 run IND.
Enough with the Rozier dribbling around when Kyrie and Smart are on the floor. You are an off ball player.
Yeah, that went downhill as soon as Al and Tatum checked out.
Enough with the Rozier dribbling around when Kyrie and Smart are on the floor. You are an off ball player.
He seems to forget his role very quickly
We run a three guard lineup, but the worst playmaker of the three gets the ball the most? Am I missing something
The 14 to 4 foul shots are keeping this closer than it should be.Indy's pretty physical for a team with so few fouls. Refs need to even up the play
Jaylen just make the easy play. Nothing worse than a guy who can't pass and doesn't know it. Just make the easy pass.
WHAT?
**** was that offensive foul???
Smart with the TO then with the foul on a 3-point shot.
A LOT of phantom fouls tonight!
A LOT of phantom fouls tonight!
Oh okay, lets just play the blame game here... ::)
Celtics outscored by two point. Not horrible, though not good either.Lead goes *poof*12 points is not a lead??
Now back to 17. No need to worry.
2nd Quarter has been horrible for this team. Hopefully not today.

I wish Brad had subbed in Kyrie for Rozier on the final play. Instead we get a Rozier prayer that had .00001% chance of going in.One, your calculations are off.
16 to freaking 7 on fouls. Like, seriously, do they not recognize the huge disparity of fouls that they're giving out?Geez Louise jp, make sure your head doesn’t explode. ;D
And just watch - now they'll artificially change their officiating in the second half to make up for the disparity. It's just insane. There's literally no objective, consistent standard.

Two, Kyrie has three fouls. If he got another here it would be a problem in the second half.
This has been Marcus Smart's weirdest game this season. He's shooting lights out but his passing and defense have been suspect. I'm not sure if I like this kind of game from Marcus Smart.I'm ok with it for the moment
Why take the chance? He wasn’t smart enough, according to the above, to avoid getting three so far.I wish Brad had subbed in Kyrie for Rozier on the final play. Instead we get a Rozier prayer that had .00001% chance of going in.One, your calculations are off.

I saw the 3 fouls. Kyrie is a smart player. I don't think he'd do something reckless enough to risk getting his 4th, and at the same time could have created a good look for himself.

Well that semi-creepy half time show was pretty weird.
TATUM AGAIN!! Those lanky arms are LEGIT!
Jaylens ft shooting has to be mental...
Come on it's like every time the Pacers get in the paint they blow the whistle.
Whenever we get games like this, I always envision how much angrier Tommy is watching this crap refereeing tham I am. It usually cheers me up a bit.
Kyrie isn’t human wow
Surprised they called that walk
Holy hell. Dipo stumbles over his own feet, and they call a foul on Smart.
I simply don't understand how they can be this incompetent. DO THEY NOT SEE WE HAVE OVER TWICE AS MANY FOULS CALLED ON US THAN THEM?!
Surprised they called that walk
Jesus these refs are so awful tonight. This is just ridiculous
Oladipo kinda slouches. Makes him look shorter than he is.
Think the refs looked at the scoreboard lol
Omfg that wasn’t continuation!!!
Omfg that wasn’t continuation!!!
He Dribbled!!
24-12 fouls; 12-30 free throws.I can only see the box score, but it does seem pretty one sided. Go ahead, let your head explode now. ;D
The level of incompetence is just astounding. There are literally, not figuratively, two different standards of officiating tonight. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves at this disparity. That's just simply not justifiable, let alone against legitimately the best defensive team in the league.
24-12 fouls; 12-30 free throws. The tape of this game should go to the league office for review. Refs should be penalized for egregiously officiated games like this

I am not one to usually complain about the refs to the point of posting about it. This is just unreal...I have never seen this many phantom calls in a looooong time.
WOW, grabbed AL so he could get the ball!!
Ugh. 6 turnovers for Smart.7 now. Going to have to call him Marcus Dumb if this keeps up
Smart has been abysmalFixed that for you.this quarter
This was covered earlier. Kyrie had three fouls. Reasonable to not want him to pick up the fourth. If he had, it would a problem now.Smart has been abysmalFixed that for you.this quarter
Then again, plenty of blame to hand around. Why did we finish off the first half with no Irving on the court and Rozier taking a horrible long 3? I thought you could sub in between free throws.
Wow, Rozier's redeeming himself (marginally)He does seem streaky. I hope we get good rozier for this quarter.
Come on. He can go one offensive possession without picking up a PF. That's just not serious. This was covered earlier. Kyrie had three fouls. Reasonable to not want him to pick up the fourth. If he had, it would a problem now.Smart has been abysmalFixed that for you.this quarter

Rozier has hit some timely baskets this game. That last shot was terrible though. Stay in control Terry.

This Pacers team isn't bad at all.
Turnovers may be worse than the refs
Turnovers may be worse than the refs17 of them yuck yuck yuck. :P
Yeah, I just don't see how this Kyrie and bench lineup works.
WHERE'S THE OVER THE BACK FOUL ON SABONIS??
WHERE'S THE OVER THE BACK FOUL ON SABONIS??He's gotten away with murder the whole game. You'd think he was Lebron with that kind of treatment from the refs
Big AL been at concessions?

No call for Kyrie would have been a foul if it was Indiana
This is ridiculous. Brown gets no freaking call with just as much contact with no call.
Brad absolutely has to rip the officiating after this, regardless who wins.
Awful hero shot
If the Pacers win this game, imma hate this team for the remainder of the season.
Indy totally won the PG13 Trade, huh? Wow.
This game has been a joke. These officials don't deserve to work for the NBA after this performance.
Absolutely livid
I hate Rozier.
Indiana doesn't deserve to win this game.

Thank You Kyrie Irving for single-handedly losing this game for us.
The 38-footer off one leg wasn't bad enough, now he l;oses it out of bounds.
Still time left for the Celtics to win. But they need to play a lot better. Stop turn overs.Sigh. :-[Score, stop, score, win.
Awful game for the C's tonight. Really sloppy. Not the refs. C's bad tonight.
Are the refs responsible for the turnovers and bad offensive execution too?Indiana doesn't deserve to win this game.
They do more than the Celts do.
Nope. Refs carried them the entire game.
4 calls in a row on Indiana possessions. Its like the refs want to keep teams in the game.
Disagree, it was the result of both. No calls on Boston caused them to turn it over more, and then Indy got fouls called when a Celtic looked at them wrong. Pathetic gameThis game has been a joke. Send Kyrie back to Cleveland
They deserve to lose. Choke a 19 point lead, bruh.
4 calls in a row on Indiana possessions. Its like the refs want to keep teams in the game.
This was the start of the bad reffing. Literally 4 calls in a row on Indiana possessions immediately after a timeout after the Celtics went up 12-0 early in the 1st quarter.
We still had a chance, but you can only overcome so much.
The Pacers played hard. I give them credit, but the W goes to the refs for this one.
Are the refs responsible for the turnovers and bad offensive execution too?Indiana doesn't deserve to win this game.

Nope. Refs carried them the entire game.
Who did more to toss away that game - Kyrie or Smart? And what was Brown even doing on the court in the 2nd half?

Didn't we still lead when he jacked up the sideline shot off one leg with time left on the shot clock ?? What is he thinking there ?

the worst part is that the refs influenced the momentum for 3 quarters
would have been a lopsided victory

Would have been a comfortable C's victory. Indiana got comfortable and the C's started worrying towards the end of the 3rd.

We had blown the lead because a bunch of other guys on our team were awful. Brown, Smart, and Rozier were all awful.
Never a doubt!

Not good.
I bet the trade Rozier crowd is hiding tonight. That was a great steal to seal the game.Nope, still here. He made plenty of boneheaded plays including that horrid inbounds pass earlier. Great play at the end but if he played better during the game, they wouldn't have needed that play.

This tells me you weren't watching the game close enough. C's didn't choke away a 19 point lead. They basically had about a 12 point lead in the entire game and couldn't extend it because the refs wouldn't let them get any momentum. That in turn kept Indiana hanging around and almost stole it until Rozier had other ideas.

Still the worst reffed game this year by a shot. Tommy's going off now on how the refs worked to keep the Pacers in the game and it sure felt that way. NBA TV game.

Refs called a lot on the C's, but C's lost their composure and gave the ball away frequently -- also keeping the Pacers in the game. C's should not have had to pull this one out the way they did.
I could not watch the game. Ten tps for anyone who posts a video of the ending! ;DAsk and you shall receive!!!

Rozier obviously had the play of the game, but we can't forget the two clutch 3's Kyrie made down the stretch to keep us in it after struggling all of the 4th quarter. Those were big time plays that only special players make.
I don't know who the Pacers color commentator is, but when he said "Oh no!", that when he knew, the Pacers screwed up. And as Rozier rises up, a defeated "oooohw noooooow!" Man...

True.
Yeah, no. The refs weren't to blame about all the low-percentage shots and the turnovers on passes that ended up nowhere close to a Celtics player. If you want to complain about that trend so be it but tonight that wasn't the problem. Refs mucked this game up and gave Indiana a chance to win on the second night of a back to back. It's been a while since I've felt this way about a game. They were determined to keep it close all night.

I went to bed last night at 107-102, p---ed that the Cs had somehow thrown away this game.I am sure that the both of you are correct. ;D
I woke up this morning and the voices in my head said "the Cs won".
Nah, can't be.
The Cs won.
There's no way.
Go check. They won.
*checks*
THEY WON?!?!?!?!?

With 8 clutch-time points in rally vs. Pacers, Kyrie Irving slips back in front of LeBron James for most clutch points in the NBA this season. Kyrie with 87 points in 57 clutch minutes. LeBron with 85 points in 65 minutes. Next closest: Lillard (70 pts, 77 min)
According to ESPN Stats & Information research, NBA teams were 0-379 when trailing by five or more in the final 30 seconds of games this season entering Monday night's action.
... and
According to Stats & Information research, teams trailing by five or more in the final 30 seconds of games have a winning percentage of .002 over the past 20 NBA seasons.
Another from Fosberga little misleading because "5 or more" included all the teams that were down by 10 or 20 too. Those teams have far worse odds than we did. I wonder what the numbers are if you restrict the number to 5 or 6 point leads.QuoteAccording to ESPN Stats & Information research, NBA teams were 0-379 when trailing by five or more in the final 30 seconds of games this season entering Monday night's action.

Which reminds me. I was so stunned by the play that I had to look at the TV to see that we were ahead.
I can understand that we are losing game we should have one in every logic sense, I can accept that we had like 15 second-chance points less than Indiana, I accept Bayness' terrible game, I accept even that Kyrie had terrible shot selection in last 3 min, but I CAN'T STAND MARCUS SMART KEEPIN THE BALL EVERY SINGLE POSSESION WE HAVE!!! I just wonder is there someone who can mention it to Stevens??!!Frankly, Smart not keeping the ball means you're decidedly playing 4 on 5. On the other hand... it might still be better.
