Major change in the Al Horford situation:
Per source close to Horford, his side is no longer discussing a new 3-year deal to stay with the Celtics. He is expected to sign a 4-year free agent contract elsewhere...
Story to come.

UGH, though to be honest I can't entirely blame him either. He wants to win and I don't think we're capable of doing so in the next 1-2 years. Just PLEASE not the Lakers.

Oh me either.  Al was great here.  Good luck to him where ever he lands.  Lets hope it isn't the lakers.

Yep. But if he goes to the Lakers, he's dead to me.  :P

Problem is Boston has no money nor any interest to replace him.

What is Danny doing?

Starting to look like DA’s gambles have finally come back to bite him... hard to fault some of the moves, like Kyrie at the time but man did this go downhill fast...

Could this just be a tactic to try and get Boston to give him that 4th year?

Garbage draft picks
Losing 2 max players
No money to do ANYTHING
30 mil tied up in a broken Gordon Hayward.

What a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. show this team is. 35 wins max.

Wow our disastrous season of missed expectations keeps claiming casualties. I'm sure if Danny had the chance to do things over again he would have been much less willing to sacrifice last season to hold all his assets for a run at AD which he wasn't even able to do anyway. They seemed to just cross their fingers and hoped to get thru the season with all the assets intact. Now we still have assets but nothing to get for them.

So many smokescreens and media stuff going on these days.  Honestly, until we get a final word who knows what is happening.

This could be a good thing.

Celts never advanced to the finals with Horford.

Time to move on and it's good for both sides.

If the Celts are going to go with the young players, I think it's best if the Celts trade Gordon Hayward for Bradley Beal.

It might cost the Celts a pick or picks, but it will give the Celts more cap room because Beal's contract is smaller than Hayward's

This would open the door for the Celts to sign D-Lo.

D-Lo
Beal
Brown
Tatum
Smart

That's a good start for a quasi rebuild.

If Al signs elsewhere. As does Terry as expected. And we renounce Morris we have a max FA slot.

To use on who? That’s a different question.

The worst part is if it wasn’t for Kyrie’s and AD’s terrible attitudes we could have created a contender... what a joke this league is. Glad the Lakers can have the big names walk right into their laps whenever they need a boost.

Chris Forsberg on Early Edition was speculating about that just now.

DAR? Not saying I’d want to give him a max but he does fit the Jay’s timeline.

Problem is nobody has any desire to play in Boston.

Going to be stuck with a lot of cap space and nobody to give it to...

Well, if that's the case, then as might as well renounce him, Morris, Irving, Rozier and all our free agents and free up enough money to offer a max contract to someone (or split the money in half and offer half and half to two different free agents.)

They probably can't agree on money. Maybe Al's looking for 3 yrs 75m. Maybe Danny told Al that they're going all in on youth and won't be looking to contend for the next couple of years.
