Milwaukee Bucks and coach Scott Skiles have agreed to part ways, according to a person familiar with the discussions.
The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the team had yet to announce the move.
Skiles has been the coach of the Bucks since the 2008-09 season, compiling a record of 162-182, with one playoff appearance. Overall, Skiles has a record of 443-433 in 13 seasons.
The Bucks are 16-16 this season and have lost four straight games.

Haha, same guy that took over for Skiles when Chicago fired him. History repeating itself.
Boylan didn't work out well for Chicago. I wonder why Milwaukee expect it to be any different this time around.

Skiles has always had a rep as a guy whose players eventually tune him out, if I recall correctly. Although with that patchwork, mismatched roster, I'm not sure what they wanted him to do anyway.

The coaches always go before the personnel. And this was definitely a situation where I don't see how Skiles could have won.

I think this a big loss for Milwaukee.
There are very few head coaches in the league I'd rather have to teach a still fairly raw big man like Larry Sanders + turn such a make-shift cast of players into a quality defensive team. Skiles is as good a defensive head coach as there is in the league today. One of the best. Arguably the best of the best.

Agree, he is a good coach, not sure they can find anybody better myself ::)
WOuldn't mind him teaching Defense as a coach on the Celtics.

If Sacramento or New Orleans have any sense, they hire him immediately. Sure in 4 years or less they'll fire him, but whatevs.
Maybe he asked for it to coach New Jersey again.

This is not surprising. Skiles had started wearing thin on guys a couple years ago, and in the last season, they have just been adding the antithesis of his kind of player. I am sure he HATED it.
Here's the question though. Now that he is gone, will they make a run at Cousins? They can offer a really intriguing package of Jennings and one of their young big men.

The really crazy part is that offensively the Bucks have done a better job than most at breaking down some of the Thibs-esque defenses in the league this year. They look patchwork, sure, but they've got all the makes of a fun 7th or 8th seed.
Also, every time I look at Skiles I have to pinch myself and remember he's the NBA's most assists in one game record holder. Dude looks so, uh, not equipped to be that guy!

From what I have heard, this was Skiles' decision, not Milwaukee's. Skiles told Bucks' brass last month that he would not seeking an extension on his expiring contract. I guess he decided he'd rather not be a lame duck, and just quit now.
Seems like something he'd do. Has always struck me as a bit of a little tyrant. Might be a good Xs-and-Os coach, but everything I have heard about him says his interpersonal skills are lacking.
If anything, I expect the Bucks to play freer and easier, and still contend for a low playoff berth. The chains are off. Fear the Deer?

Skiles always had the Bucks playing hard for him, and he didn't have a ton to work with there. The front office has been a mess and Skiles wasn't going to sign on for more of it.
If Skiles is going to take another job some day, he's got to do a better job at looking at the roster and GM before signing on. Maybe he can consult Phil Jackson on how to cherry pick a team to coach.
