Not getting the high seed finish for Minny. Yes they added Butler, Teague and Gibson but 3 out of their 5 starters and almost their entire bench are poor to awful defenders. They will score but I see them giving up lots of points too. With a Western Conference schedule they may only win about 40-44 games.

The west will be a blood bath this year and a least a couple of good teams will miss the playoffs. It could be so bad that they change the playoff seating rules and just seat the 16 best teams after this...

At this point, they should revamp the playoff seeding.

Why?

Because it's a bit ridiculous there may be multiple teams out west could very well finish with winning records and not make the playoffs. I think it sucks for fanbases of teams that are trying to win to miss out.

Bigger picture, those teams that miss the playoffs end up right back in the lottery so young talent just gets funneled out west.

I never considered this point which is well taken.

Yup and the teams that are truly terrible out West have to face higher competition on average than the same type of terrible team in the East. So they are far more likely to finish dead last than an identical roster in the eastern conference. Making it more likely that picks 1-3 end up belonging to a western conference team.

Which is good news for our LAL/SAC pick, possibly bad news for our BKN pick.

Easier for everyone to talk paycuts when you are dominating the league.

Management of a dominant team is gonna be willing to pay some tax and guys on the squad are gonna be willing to take a pay cut. Don't expect that same willingness from a fringe contender.

Doesn't matter a player taking his market value is the norm. It's not really worth noting that two of their guys took market value when so many guys have taken paycuts.

Totally sucks that GS players are the ones becoming "team players" now ... I really wanted financial restrictions to cripple that team.

so that Curry can sign a world record contract?  It's just hard to imagine there won't be some jealousy there, esp if they don't win another ring next season.

Jealousy how? He took a paycut, much less than people expected, so Iggy and S-Dot could be resigned to deals they would feel is appropriate, and for the Warriors to shave some lux tax bill.

If anything, it might prompt the rest of the team to take even less just to keep it together. Understand that Curry already took his massive discount, that allowed the Dubs to sign KD. Now KD is taking the discount. Who knows, Klay is next in line, and maybe he might take a paycut as well.

Durant has a $300M contract with Nike. I doubt he minds.
