One of the best things about tonight's game so far has been the refereeing. Its been really very fair, no ticky-tacky touch fouls being called, ony a few plays I would quibble with (Kobe elbowing Ray in the face is not a foul on Ray, Odom charging through Garnett in an attempt to stop Rondo's layup is not a moving screen). Overall, good job so far, refs. Staying out of the way -- the way it always should be.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

They're doing a good job of staying out of the way, but they're not calling some obvious arm on arm contact under the hoop, and they're still falling for flops & head bobs.

As of that terrible ray allen foul call on Kobe's arm rip through, the refs have officially gone STEEPLY downhill. Calling a lot of ticky tacky BS so far in this second half. I'm starting to get angry.

Yeah, ticky tack bs and the Celtics still can't get to the line outside of obvious fouls on Ray.

The refs have officially completely taken over this game. Sending Kobe and Gasol to the line on 2 completely bs calls. According to the parameters that were established in the first quarter for what is a foul and what is not a foul, both of those calls are terrible, and completely wrong. Those were also the two biggest plays of the game -- gifted points. The only big play the lakers have come up with without the referee's manufacturing it for them was Fisher's three.

Yeah that's my problem.. it goes completely away from how this entire game has been called.

The Celtics and Lakers have played completely evenly to finish this game. The difference have been the refs. Had the game been called remotely fairly, those two kobe bryant freethrows that put the lakers up 5 should have been breaking a tie and putting them up 2. That's my highly conservative adjustment to their lead at that point -- if I was being optimistic, then Kobe would have been tying the game up or bringing them within one.

sportsguy33: 37 FT's for LA, 17 for Boston... and yet, LA shot 20 threes. So on 63 FG's they somehow shot 37 FT's. You're [dang] right I'll play that card!

I'm miserable. That KG play early not getting the and 1 sure hurts now.

Man...I'm not blaming the ref's for this loss. We lost it. Needed to rebound better. Period. But the way the game got called in the 4th, getting The Lakers into the penalty with 5+ minutes sure didn't help. PP can never buy a call. Oh well. This isn't on the ref's. But [dang] if it doesn't still hurt.

37 to 17 !!!

More importantly:

The Lakers shot 21 free throws in the 4th quarter. We shot 17 for the game. That's 73% of their free throws in one quarter. More importantly, they shot 14 of those free throws in the last 6 minutes of the game. The turning point was at the 6 minute mark, if you recall. Terrible call gifting Gasol free throws, followed by another terrible call gifting Kobe free throws. That was were the lakers took the lead. It is also worth mentioning that they shot more free throws in one quarter than we did the entire game. Did I say that already?

EDIT: and yes, actually rebounding the basketball would have been helpful, too. But that doesn't preclude me from being upset about this.

Come on. Don't go there and edit the title like that.

This was our game to lose. We played hard but came up short.

I'm so sick of everyone bashing refs after a loss. I guess its the refs fault that the Celtics gave up 23 offensive boards right? That they had no offense in the 4th quarter?

Please.
