We have a young, talented, competitive team that may be able to win the championship next year as currently constructed, especially if we can consolidate our three first-round picks and someone else for a top ten pick in the draft. But let us take a moment to imagine what could have been:

It’s the 2013 NBA draft and we opted for Kelly Olynyk at 13 instead of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who goes at 15. Imagine if we had opted for Giannis and later ended up with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum? We would almost surely be on our way to our second or third straight NBA championship.

While we cannot change the past, we can make a play that will instantly get us into the NBA Finals and likely make us the favorites next year: Jaylen Brown, all three 2020 NBA first-round picks, Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, our first-round pick in 2023 and our first-round pick in 2025 in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo (if the cap swap works without Williams, give up two second-round picks instead).

Giannis is watching Anthony Davis go from a small-market team to an NBA Finals with the Lakers right now as we speak. Where does one go in the USA to be as close as possible to Greece? Boston. Where does one go to counteract your western big man rivalwith the Lakers and your eastern big man rival with the 76ers? The Celtics.

It’s a match made in Heaven and it’s how we can become a dynasty. Imagine the lineup:

PG: Walker
SG: Smart
SF: Tatum
PF: Giannis
C: Theis
6th Man: Hayward

Bench strength: Kanter if he opts-in, R. Williams, G. Williams, Edwards, Wanamaker if he wants back, Ojeleye if he wants back, ring-chasing vets, 2020 2nd round pick

Does anybody see that team losing during these playoffs? Unstoppable. Get it done, Danny. NBA Finals in 2021 and NBA Championship in 2021 or 2022, or we need to bring on Ujiri. 2010 was over a decade ago and 2008 was over a dozen years ago. Get it done, Danny.
