Good thing they didn't use it on Kevin Love.  ::)

Meanwhile, negotiations for a max contract for Ricky Rubio still continue between Rubio and his bathroom mirror.

I thought Rubio was their guy?

Are they shipping him out? What about Lavine?

Just looked and they have 8 guards. 4 PGs if you count Lavine like some do. That would make 9 with Bledsoe.

Maybe a sign and trade?

They are over the cap, so I don't see how they could offer that contract unless it's a sign and trade.

how much cap space do they have, and how much salary would they have to send back to Phoenix to do a S+T?

I hope Love punishes them without any mercy.

That is a very exciting young team.

Perhaps Pekovic is the one to go in order to open up the starting C spot for Dieng. That'll be a young, athletic, and good defensive starting 5.

If it's a 4yr/$63M deal I believe his first year salary would be $14.15M and MIN would need to send out at least $11.3M in salaries.

Assuming they wouldn't trade Pekovic and PHO wouldn't want Martin, MIN would need to get to $11M thusly:

Barea = $4.5M, 1 yr
Turiaf = $1.5M, 1yr
C. Brewer or Budinger = $4.9 or $5M, 2yr

That gets MIN to right at $11M so they'd have to either (a) swap out Shabazz Muhammad  for Turiaf or (b) S&T Robbie Hummel at ~$1.1M and include a pick.

Not sure why PHO would do this unless MIN includes a #1 -- unless they want to have $15M in expiring contracts (Barea, Turiaf, Green, The Morris Twins, Shav Randolph) to use in getting a big time player in a trade.

Quick math says they'd have to send out ~11 million.

edit: beaten to it. Phoenix does it because they're not giving Bledsoe the max and he won't sign anything else. They don't want him on the QO.
