Andre Drummond

Otto Porter

Derrick Rose

Trevor Ariza

Aldridge / DeRozan / Gay?

J.J. Redick

Some of those guys may be moved at the deadline, as they are on somewhat reasonable contracts. Others may be kept because their team stays in the playoff race.

Any other obvious (or not obvious) candidates?

And yes, Otto Porter inspired this thread.  He’d be a good fit here.

Ariza seems a sensible candidate to be bought out but he has to come back to play .
The others aren’t happening especially the Spurs stars.
Other noticeable candidates:
Miller and Jackson from OKC but we probably won’t need them. Hill may get a buyout if he requests it but I think they hope to get a pick for him.
Dieng from Memphis but only if Memphis start slipping down the standings
Moritz from Washington - not needed here
Bielica - kings

Why?  You think Cleveland wants to hold on to Drummond, for instance?

Looks like Hill has 2 years left on his contract so I doubt he'd be bought out.  I do expect him to be traded.

Hill is basically an expiring. Next year is guaranteed for very little $$

I’m not sure why but I can’t think of an example of a team buying out their best big. They would hope to get a second rounder for him but why waive him? They can still make the play in.

To develop their center of the future they just traded for. that's why.

Porter would be a great fit here. Really good shooter, can play solid defence and is an upgrade on all our bench wings.

Drummond is a curious one. Theis has played 3 elite games over the last 4, and Timelord is a better defender than Thompson, who would be sorta redundant with Drummond. If we could get 2017-18 Drummond, who didn't shoot the ball much at all, passed well and rebounded as per usual. It was also his best defensive year. But who knows if he thinks he's worthy of more shots now...
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

They can try to sign and trade him to a team and get something for him. Even a TPE will be cool for cavaliers.

If this were the case, there'd be no reason for him to be released.  he's young enough to still be a good player for them.

Would love Reddick, a veteran sharp shooter would be huge for this team.

But..
Would be surprised if he was bought out, is he showing age or something? Also, would think there would be a big demand from several teams for his services.

36 years old, and playing terribly for a terrible team.

33% FG%, 30% 3PT%

Sounds crazy but when it comes to buyouts my principal concern is Brooklyn. That team has absolutely no assets and no bench left. The only way they can improve is through the buyout the market, and I fear there are some front-running players itching to team up with Kyrie/Durant/Harden. Same goes for the Lakers, who seem to corner the market on the best buy outs every year. A major problem for the league that needs to be addressed in the next round of collective bargaining.
