i just got a question...

1st of all if pierce is gone kg is gone also,
so this is the scenario...pierce wants to be a celtics, but ainge did not sign pierce...he goes somewhere...now kg retires or ask for release...

everyone will say josh smith and al jefferson
both kg and pp are gone still in hard cap situations

so example since smith wants to come here because of rondo, you will never trade rondo for big al,

so if ever this trade happens...sully lee bass + fab melo (to match the salary) for josh smith (horford can stay at center)

and jeff green bradley crawford + d.j. white for al jefferson
(utah can use bradley as sg with marvin williams and green with hayward + crawford beside mo williams)

example pierce decides to sign somewhere rather than being traded to a team he don't like to play

kg out
pierce out
bradley out
bass out
lee out
crawford out
melo out
white out
sully out
green out

WHAT ILL BE OUR LINE-UP NOW?
ANYONE TO MAKE THE LINE-UP FOR ME?

rondo big smith t-will shavlik terry and?

As a guess , Pierce will most likely remain,  not because DA won't try and find something that helps the Celtics.   I think Danny will explore his options.

With KG we still have a team even without Pierce,   because we have Green.    With no KG , the Celtics are lottery team. , even with Pierce.

KG may realize Pierce an't up to snuff , or is retiring, or is gonna be traded .  For some reason KG's mind seems more open to playing with no Pierce .

I bet Pierce comes back,  but you never know.  Danny may be willing to take less for him than he was looking for    Pierce sure ended the season on a awful note.

No one knows what will happen.  If you think we can rebuild on the fly with a lottery trip, it will be hard.   Rarely is it done outside of LA.

I don't think I've ever heard that KG will automatically leave if PP does. I think people think it's true because they've seen people put that claim in so many posts.

Ya, imo it's probably more Doc than Pierce.

Agree with both of you.  Sure he loves Paul but they have the rest of their lives to pal around together in L.A.  Doc, staying in Green and winning another championship are probably all be more important to KG than having one last year with Paul.  They are both old, and I'm sure KG realizes he needs younger support to get past Lebron.  I'd love so much to see both Paul and KG get another ring.  I don't think it can happen with them both in Boston.  I hope they both realize this.  They could do it together on a team already on the verge.  Memphis, Clippers, Thunder, maybe even Minny,  with Pierce as a backup....

Not sure what to make of Danny's latest statement about bringing Doc and KG back with almost no mention of PP. First it could be that Danny is trying to pressure PP into renegotiating his contract or trade him. My sense is that he is using KG as bait to get PP to renegotiate so that we can bring another player to carry to torch along with Rondo and Green.

Agreed. I think this notion of KG leaving if Pierce goes is more of a Celtics Blog myth than reality ;D

I think if Danny put a good enough team together partially at the expense of trading Pierce, then I think both KG and Doc would have no problem coming back next year.

I would agree with that statement unless KG likes the pieces that are added.  To me they may keep it together until the trade deadline.  Then make changes if they aren't where they expect.  That is when most of the trade rumors happened with this team anyway.

I don't want to put the effort into a search but I am fairly sure KG said if PP goes he will retire, this was back around the trade deadline!

Yeah there are plenty of statements saying they're a "package"

I absolutely agree with the sentiment that KG staying depends on Pierce being here.  Some of you just seem to be ignoring the painfully obvious.

Here's what KG had to say after the C's were eliminated in game 6 vs NY:

Quote
While Garnett swatted away most inquiries about his future, he spoke strongly about how the organization's decision on whether to retain Pierce, whose contract is only $5 million guaranteed and could be an amnesty candidate, could play into his status.

"One of the big reasons I came [to Boston] was because of Paul," said Garnett. "Obviously, you want to be in a situation where it's better. I want to make sure that I'm able to always help a team. I want to be in positions to where I'm giving something. I demand a lot of myself, both physically and from a skill level. But I'd be lying to y'all if I said Paul didn't play into that factor. Like I said, it's too soon of a conversation for me right now."

Very true,    far as I know its rumor,  haven't seen quotes in the mass media to that effect.

Think unless Danny doesn't come up with something competitive to put on the court when KG retires,   Doc will move on I predict.......  then Danny rear -end will be in sling with the owners.

Pressure is on DANNY .....Doc isn't gonna do squat without a few top 10- 15 players to put out on the floor.

I predict by 2016 the whole Celtic team and mgmt could be overhauled again , if at LEAST a certain level of success is  not  maintained.

I don't think that "will factor into the decision" implies "will be the deciding factor". Danny says he's expecting KG to return. That would mean that he's either expecting PP to be on the roster next year or he thinks KG will be back without PP.
