He's still only 28.

But unfortunately, his NBA career has been hot garbage.  He showed decent promise in 2018, and then fell off a cliff.

I thought that it was mainly health problems, no?

He was several people's choices here when we were filling out the end of the roster after the trade deadline last year.

Good body for camp battle. Still better than Fitts and...the other towel waver wing type that was here. Lets add some more competition for that spot tho please.

Yeah, I take it as he is 28 already and hasn't really done anything in the NBA.  You can't expect that there is much ceiling.

That said, nothing wrong with giving him a look in training camp.  I don't see much need for a 6'-4" SG who isn't that good though.  I guess he may need to beat out Brodric Thomas.

He seemed to do pretty well in the G-League last season. Played 13 games in Maine and averaged 14.6pts, 10.3rebs, 7ast, 1.1stl, while shooting 44% from the field, 35.2% from 3pt and 78.6% from the line. I’m glad he got a camp invite.

Obviously he had talent otherwise he wouldn’t have been drafted #14 overall. Another career derailed by injuries.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I thought Denzel was like a low rent Marcus Smart. Correct me if I'm wrong on this... I haven't seen him play since he played for The Bulls.

I don't think he's ever shown anything like that in the pros.  Coming out of college he may have been seen as having tenacity and defense, but those skills haven't followed him to the pros.

If we're looking for low rent Marcus Smart, that's probably Kris Dunn, if he's back from injury.

Dunn shot 9% from 3 last year and Valentine shot 40%. Neither guy would probably see the floor in anything but garbage time. I guess it depends on who's healthy....

Falls in line with the other "make or break" players Brad has coming to camp. Hey, if he hits on just one of these guys playing some rotational minutes, it's an overall successful strategy. If he doesn't hit on any of them, it was worth the shot.

Agreed. The bench is already way better than last year.
