Knicks reportedly are not re-signing Nerlens Noel. Would he make a good backup center?

I realize there were a lot of negative reports about him early in his career. Haven't followed him since. Has anything changed?

Knicks traded Noel to the Pistons and he’s still under contract

Hardly surprising. Big money, spotlight, more touches, and the borderline tampering NYK did

Dallas appears to be fairly screwed unless this is a sign and trade. Their second best player is now dinwiddie or hardaway jr? Yikes

Yeah, the tampering from NY was egregious, but they can get around it because his dad is a coach on the team, and the NBA isn't going to tell a player not to talk to his family.

However, if it is true that he'd have signed a 4-year, $55 million extension in January had he been offered, the Mavs really screwed themselves on this one.

I think their best bet is to try and nab some disgruntled star type. They have a lot of money tied up in Dinwiddie, Hardaway and Bertans. A stupid amount, actually

Yeah, if anything it’s quite wily from New York (surprising to me!).

Ouch. Hadn’t seen that report. That’s a big time fumble from Dallas. Sort of the reverse Schroder

Dallas blew it because they wanted to hold out hope of getting a star at the deadline (couldn't trade him if he recently signed an extension). Now, they look silly.

I think it was 55 start of last season and 80 in Jan.
