Rob is also a 62% free throw shooter which he's been super consistent with. I like Rob's game aside from his nagging injuries, so I don't want to knock him down. But jump shot isn't his focal point and/or strength. He never looks very comfortable shooting outside and he's left open. I think if he had a good shot, he'd shoot more. And does the jumpshot make or break him from becoming a third star on the team?

It’s awesome to see Rob continuing to blossom. Williams could be our “Third Star” by next season. I’d therefore like to see Stevens combine other pieces to get a legit PG who can run a nasty P-N-R with Timelord.
I see pretty much no chance of this happening unless he comes back next season with a reliable jump-shot, and that seems unlikely as well.  Still, I wouldn't trade him as he is fantastic.

Rob’s ceiling is Rudy Gobert — does he have a reliable jumper? And yet he’s more skilled than Rudy. Better hands, better passer.

Hard to imagine what Rob could be at Gobert’s height.

It couldn’t hurt

Rob doesn't need a jump-shot to be a 3rd star but he does need to be a lot more consistent and dependable.

Never sure what you're going to get from him. Impact or sleepwalking.

Edit: His defense, rebounding & team offense (passing, cutting, transition) are good enough to make him a high impact player without being a capable jumpshooter. That is why I do not think he needs a jumper to be a 3rd star.

Well, I agree he needs to be more consistent. That’s part of his growth, and I think it’s on the uptick.

Since the triple double he hasn't had more than 2 assists. This frustrates me.

I love this.

That's from this season.

I do wish the Celtics would use him more as a hub in the set offense.  Give him a touch in the middle.  Ideally though he'd have to start taking an 10-footer or two each game.  He is so hesitant to take an open shot.  He needs to at least present that as an option for defenders in order to make having the set offense flow through him work well.
Yup

So quick question. Is Timelord basically our third best player now?

Definitely the 3rd best this season. I wonder about Smart because I thought he played a lot better than he was not the PG. He was less of a liability offensively. In that role, it was closer between Smart and Rob Williams. In Smart's current role it is not close at all and Rob Williams is clearly the 3rd best player on the team.

A lot of awkward fits. Just watching Schroeder getting killed by Lamelo sucks.

Smart needs to be a 1, Jaylen is a natural 2 and Tatum can be 3/4.

We need a playmaking wing...Kyle Anderson...Malcolm Brogdon......or maybe just bring in Harrison Barnes or Jerami Grant to soak up possessions with the ball in their hands...

If the C's want to run their half court thru Rob at the top of the key, it sure would be nice if he was a real threat to knock down a shot from there - then the other teams would have to respect/guard that - thus no double teams on the Jays due to Rob being ignored.

I think that 15 footer is the next thing for him to add to his game.
