Can't say I ever liked the guy but respect the fact he carved out himself a helluva NBA career.

$116,423,821 of career earnings, just from the NBA (I assume there were some endorsements and other tangential earnings).

Not bad for a career 12.8 pts, 3 point specialist who really didn't do much else.

Always wanted JJ in Green.

I think his run from 2013-2019 as one of the most lethal perimeter shooters in the league is underrated, tbh.

We knew he was a shooter coming into the league.  But he worked hard to make himself a serviceable defender which is a huge reason he lasted more than just his rookie contract.

It's been fun to watch him slowly* transition into the podcast host he was born to be towards the latter half of his career. A very pleasant person who definitely leaned into his persona/appearance as one of the most disliked players on the court (not in the least because he's a white dude from Duke), which is always fun.

I say slowly, iirc he started on this in 2015?
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Watching him at Duke I never thought he would amount to much, but he definitely worked hard and turned into a pretty solid player in his peak.

Almost the exact same avg. as Aaron Gordon, who does nothing well, and will have career earnings of $180M at the end of his extension.

Their career points are similar ( 12.7 / 12.8 ) but Gordon has more assists (2.5/2.0), considerably more rebounds (6.3/2.0), and Gordon offers far more defensive versatility.

It is a lot of money in either case for what are not star players but also not all that surprising for today's NBA.

Best Wishes to him retiring now he is retired.   He certainly caused us some headaches during the PP era now and then.

Redick was a solid player for a decade.  But for perspective, he was not a good NBA player for his first 2-3 seasons, despite having been a college senior.  Just another data point to remind some of us to be a little more patient with Langford, Nesmith, and Grant.  Nothing is set in stone for any of those three.

Very true.  I remember the Celtics kicking the tires on him.  I wish we’d had the chance to get him.  Korver had a rough rookie year, too.

Redick definitely did not play much in Orlando early on (that is when Dwight was in his prime and the Magic were a real contender), but when he did play he was always an excellent shooter.  That is the worry for someone like Langford, who has just been bad shooting the ball.
