To Celtics:  Bertans

Works on ESPN trade machine.  Wizards could probably get a slightly better deal for Beal.  But Celtics willing to absorb Bertans contract (Fournier TPE)

I just can't see Brad giving Smart this contract without the option to trade him at the deadline

I might be in the minority (or too influenced by the Celtics’ original Big 3) but I don’t think Beal is the guy to take us to the promised land.

They want it to occur before All-Star weekend, which starts Feb 18th. I guess it could be as late as Feb 17th with that goal, which means if Smart signs his deal today he would be eligible, but my guess is Feb 10th.  The NBA doesn't want All-Star weekend to be about trades.

Beal is one of the top scorers in the league

There are moments were he is virtually unstoppable

So you can ride that. You can ride Tatum "on fire".  Same with Brown


I could see it divided up into

Brown goes off in the 1st quarter/1st half
Tatum goes off in the 2nd and 3rd quarter
Beal takes over the 4th

It just becomes exhausting for opponents to handle.

I can't see Brad signing Smart without the  option to trade him mid season for someone like Beal

My guess is ... Celts have a good idea when the Trade deadline will be for 2022 (not announced yet)
