I'd like to announce the start of the trade phase of our mock off-season. The free agent phase will overlap with the trade phase, as players can still be signed and will be announced via the other thread.

This thread is to announce trades. A few things:
1. Sign-and-trades are possible, but improbable. Clear all sign-and-trades with me.
2. Use tradenba.com or a similar trade machine and post the link to your saved trade to validate it. If you don't validate it, the commish might pull the David Stern veto card.
3. If a cap error is found in your trade, you will be given 24 hours to right the error. Since we are not experts and some of the tools are not perfect, grace may be given.
4. Trade Phase ends in Thursday, June 25th, at 7pmEst. Any trades announced after that will not count. We will then make one more thread for you to explain your teams and set up voting to see who wins.

The Orlando Magic would like to announce a five-team trade.

https://tradenba.com/trades/aEDuDw9qF

Bulls receive: John Wall, Anfernee Simons, Nuggets 2021 1st
Blazers receive: Nikola Vucevic
Nuggets receive: Zach Lavine, Jusuf Nurkic
Magic receive: Bradley Beal, Jamal Murray, Tomas Satoransky, 2022 2nd from Wizards (best of Det, Chi, or LAL)
Wizards receive: Felicio, Fultz, Bamba, Aminu, Ross, Porter, Hood, 2022 Orlando 1st, 2024 Orlando 1st

This trade freed the Bulls up to sign Christian Wood, gave the Blazers a reliable high quality center, got the Nuggets a better, cheaper scorer on the perimeter, started the rebuild in Washington, and gave the Magic star players with which to contend in the east.

The Orlando Magic would like to announce a trade with the Pacers.

https://tradenba.com/trades/vTx14vrEA

Pacers receive: Evan Fournier, Johnathan Isaac
Magic receive: Miles Turner, Edmund Sumner

This trade gave the Pacers a 4 that fits their team better with Sabonis and gave the Magic a top 3 defensive anchor in the NBA that can stretch the floor on offense.

What's the starting lineup for the Magic after all these acquisitions? It seems to me they have built a strong team!

edit: just saw the roster in DWC's signature. Yep, that's a strong team! Plenty of good reserves as well. Dunn is one of the best guard defenders in the league. Satoransky can do a little bit of everything. Plumlee at 2 years, 4.6M is a steal!

Are the Nuggets planning to use Jokic at the 4? Or are they bringing Nurkic off the bench?

Thanks! I'm happy with how it went. Things were tenuous for awhile. I will write up my full explanation and team plan later on. Part of what I love is the flexibility to still make other moves to get a better wing option, especially if Aaron Gordon can't excel at the 4 like I think he can.

I tend to think that Lavine would become an all-star next to Jokic and in an open motion system. I still hold a plot on Lavine Island. I figure Nurkic basically takes over Plumlee's role. I'm excited to hear what gouki88's plans are. I wonder if there is still a move to be made.

Initially Nurkic will likely come off the bench while he fully recovers from his injury - we all know first hand how long something like that can take to recover from.

However, in some match-ups he will be alongside the new-look skinny Jokic - like when we play teams that like to go big like LAL. However, we think his passing and low-post strength will fit greatly alongside MPJ too.

The Boston Celtics and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed on a trade.

Blazers in: Enes Kanter
Celtics in: the Blazers 2021 first round pick (protected for selections 1-12 in 2021, unprotected in 2022)

The Blazers have a $7,069,662 TPE from Kent Bazemore's trade to the Kings. They absorb Kanter's salary ($5,005,350) via this exception.

The trade creates a $5,105,350 TPE for the Celtics (=Kanter's salary + $100,000).

-----------------------------------

Here's the depth chart of the Boston Celtics.

PG: Kemba - Haliburton - Wanamaker
SG: Brown - Smart - Edwards
SF: Hayward - Langford - Connaughton
PF: Tatum - G. Williams - Patterson
C: Theis - Wagner - R. Williams

And here's their payroll:

1. Kemba Walker $34,379,100
2. Gordon Hayward $34,187,085
3. Jaylen Brown $23,883,929
4. Marcus Smart $13,446,428
5. Jayson Tatum $9,897,120
6. Daniel Theis $5,000,000
7. Tyrese Haliburton $4,791,120
8. Romeo Langford $3,631,200
9. Grant Williams $2,498,760
10. Moritz Wagner $2,161,920
11. Robert Williams $2,029,920
12. Brad Wanamaker $1,737,274
13. Pat Connaughton $1,737,274
14. Patrick Patterson $1,737,274
15. Carsen Edwards $1,517,981

dead cap
Guerschon Yabusele $1,039,080
Demetrius Jackson $92,858

SUM: $143,768,323

Tax line: $142,000,000
Tax apron: $148,400,000

The C's are still open for business prior to the deadline. They'd be interested in a deal which would help them sneak out of the tax in 2020/21. The goal is to avoid starting the clock on the repeater tax. Tatum's max contract kicks in in 2021. The Celtics fully expect to be a tax team in 2021/22.

The Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat have agreed to a trade.

Miami in: Kemba Walker + Daniel Theis + Robert Williams + Moritz Wagner
Boston in: Bam Adebayo + Andre Iguodala + Kelly Olynyk

For salary matching purposes, the trade breaks down into 3 separate transactions:

Trade 1
Miami in: Kemba Walker + Daniel Theis
Boston in: Bam Adebayo + Andre Iguodala + Kelly Olynyk

https://tradenba.com/trades/1Db64GvXn

Trade 2
The Heat have a $7,533,867 TPE from the James Johnson trade. They use this TPE to absorb Wagner's salary ($2,161,920).

- One for $2,261,920 (Wagner's salary + $100,000)

PF: Tatum - G. Williams - Patterson
C: Bam - Olynyk

The C's have all their future picks intact. At the same time, they acquired the Blazers 2021 first round pick (top 12 protected in 2021, unprotected in 2022).

I'm looking forward to hearing the rational behind Miami's decision to make that trade. Interesting trade for both teams. Not a great look for the Cs to trade a max free agent they just signed, but that lineup is legit on both sides of the court.

It's not like we dumped him to a lottery team or something. The Heat are a contending team, plus Miami is a very attractive destination.

- great weather
- no state income tax. He'd make more money in Miami than he would have made in Boston.

No wonder the Heat are regularly considered a top free agent destination.
