One of the greatest ever. Too bad he had to bet on games and will never make the Hall Of Fame.

I have always thought that his ban was a lifetime ban in a ?for as long as you live? ban and that he would make the HOF once he passed away.

I feel he deserves it.

I just read the recent Rose bio Charlie Hustle a few months ago.  A very good read btw. I didn?t end up (after the book) liking him all that much but I?ve always thought he should be in the Hall, assuming that the HOF is really part of the museum that tells the story of baseball.  He is definitely part of that story - the good and the bad.

In the Dikembe thread I mentioned that I did not think anyone could dislike Dikembe. I once met Pete Rose?let?s just say he?s no Dikembe.

Edit: that being said, with what he did on the field Johnny Hustle is a HOFer.

Was my father?s favorite baseball player .  You didn?t get in the way of the TV when Mr Hustle was playing ball.
Sorry he had to go. RIP.

He didn't help his case with his attitude, but he's still one of the best baseball players ever, so I think he should be in the Hall.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

He was a POS himself, so maybe this is the best argument yet that he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah, now that's he dead (along with Giamatti) if they want to finally put him in the HOF, by all means, go ahead.
