Just for fun…hard to believe the deadlines only 3 weeks away…

- Zach LaVine to The Lakers

- DeJounte Murray to the Heat

- Pascal Siakam to the Mavericks

- Jerami Grant to Indy for package centered around Buddy Hield

- Celtics make a small move and acquire Nick Richards from the Hornets

What ya got?

Who are the returns in the first 3 trades?

It’s honestly pretty hard to predict what trade packages will include without being in the know regarding what other teams are bidding on players and how much these teams actually value these players, but I’ll take a stab at it…

My guess Chicagos return for Lavine will be Russell, Hachimura, a future 1st and possibly a young player - Max Christie, possibly.

Hawks return for Murray will be Robinson, Jovic, and 2 1st rounders

Raptors return for Siakam will be Hardaway, Holmes, Green, and 2nd rounders (less value since Siakam is an expiring and can walk in the offseason)

I found this interesting as someone who could get traded at the deadline:
Quote
One name to watch is Quentin Grimes. The Knicks are actively fielding offers for the former first-round pick, according to rival executives who have been in contact with New York’s front office. The approach signals a change from only a year or two ago when the Knicks clutched onto Grimes in trade talks. The 23-year-old has fallen out of favor with head coach Tom Thibodeau of late. – via Fred Katz @ The Athletic

I am not sure he is someone that the Celtics could get but he is career 38.6% from 3.  Whenever I have seen him play, he has looked good, very athletic.  Seems like a classic 3&D guy but maybe the D part isn't so good?

We need an Evan Fournier type move. Team still needs depth at the forward position.

#JTJB (Just Trade Jaylen Brown)
#JFJM (Just Fire Joe Mazzulla)

Not sure exactly what you mean by that.  What is it about that trade that we should do over?

Quote
The Boston Celtics acquired Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier for two second-round picks ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, it was announced.

In a separate deal, Boston traded center Daniel Theis (and Javonte Green) to the Chicago Bulls for Mo Wagner, from Washington (and Kornet from Chicago).

It looked like a good trade on paper, Fournier and Mo Wagner for Theis, Javonte Green, and 2 seconds.  But Fournier turned out to be a hollow stat guy who didn't help the team much.  Wagner ended up being the best player in the trade.

Quote
MAR 25 2021
Traded to Boston (BOS) from Washington (WAS) as part of a 3-team trade: Chicago (CHI) traded Luke Kornet to Boston (BOS); Chicago (CHI) traded Chandler Hutchison and Daniel Gafford to Washington (WAS); Boston (BOS) traded Daniel Theis, $1.3 million and Javonte Green to Chicago (CHI); Washington (WAS) traded Troy Brown Jr. and $250k to Chicago (CHI)

APR 17 2021
Waived by Boston (BOS)

We got Wagner and Kornet for Theis and Javonte Green, but then waived Wagner.

Most likely the Celtics do nothing.

I’m all about the Celtics overpaying with picks for a player that can crack the top 7/8.  I’m not sure who that guy is . I think with how we are currently built it would be almost disregarding what position they played ( other than pg) Lonnie Walker, Santi Aldama, Caruso if that’s even possible. . I’d be wanting a triple threat type guy or a player that can make quick decisions or excels at one particular skill (like D with Caruso) . It seems we’d have to really maneuver to make something like that happen,  though.
I think this has to be the year because OKC with 15 first rounders can snatch up a superstar at any time.

I don't think he would be out for blood, but he would def give that team what they need, a tough vet defender to make their def better
for that reason, please no Smart to the Bucks

I'd be semi ok with this just cause I want the best for Marcus, but I don't think Bucks have anything that could get him, arn't they tapped out of picks?

They have Portland’s 2nd this year and their own 2027 2nd, and that’s it aside from letting a team swap with the lesser of their own and New Orleans or Portland’s picks in the years they have a 1st at all.  Smart still has two more years on his deal after this — Memphis can be patient even with this lost season.
