Is there any precedent for how this guy is playing right now?  It's unreal.  I feel like if it's at all possible... he's underrated.  The Heat have won 17 in a row.

Take a look at his numbers for the month of February:  29.7 points, 7.8 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals... 64% FG, 43% from three, 81% from the line.   That's obnoxious.

For the season he's averaging 27 points, 7.2 assists, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals... 56% FG, 40% from three and 75% from the line.  Dude... FIFTY SIX PERCENT??? ... Are you kidding me ??  Just a general FYI, but Kobe Bryant is a career 45% and he's in the midst of his best season ... shooting 47%.    Jordan was just slightly under 50% from his career... maxed out in 1991 shooting 54%.    56% is unthinkable unless you're a traditional back-to-the-basket big man like Shaq.

LeBron is having one of the greatest statistical seasons of all time right now.

I was surprised to find out that his last season in Cleveland was about even statistically... lower FG%, but since he had no Wade and Bosh getting as many touches, he had more points and more assists.

2009-10 LeBron - 29.7 points, 8.6 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 50%/33%/76%

2012-13 LeBron - 27 points, 7.2 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 56%/40%/75%

Crazy LeBron can be so statistically dominant even with Wade averaging 22, 5 and 5 ... and Bosh getting 17 and 7.  I guess this Miami thing is working out.

He has been pretty incredible...there are only a few other statistical seasons that are comparable to the one LeBron is having this year:

Bird 1986-87: 28.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists, .525 FG%, .400 3PT%, .910FT% (wow)

Jordan 1988-98: 32.5 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, .538 FG%, .276 3PT%, .850FT%

Havlicek 1971-72: 27.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists, .458 FG%, .834FT%

Oscar 1962-63: 28.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 9.5 assists, .518 FG%, .810FT%

I hate to sound like I have a defeatist attitude because I don't usually approach this game that way, but I honestly feel like Boston will be entering their rebuilding phase at the right time.

This guy in his prime, put up some fairly comparable stats.  Given your screen name, I'm a bit surprised that you didn't think of him right away.

Sometimes I think that as Celtics fans that we are so inundated with the legacy of "The Legend" that we tend to take his dominance and his brilliance for granted.

Yeah, he was pretty sick in 2010 as well.  Amazingly, though, he was outplayed by our very own Rajon Rondo in the EC semis that year.

I definitely thought about Bird as well.  I also found that Karl Malone shot 56% for a season once, but I lumped him with the "big man" category.

Bron's stats are a lot like Bird's... Bird averaged 7+ assists 3 times.  That 87 season was probably his statistical best.  It's kind of crazy to think that if Bron keeps this season up... his stats will be on a par with Bird's best... higher FG%, even on 3P% (bron averaging slightly more threes than Bird and shooting percentage)... It's crazy.  Averaging slightly less points, rebounds, assists, but also averaging 2 less minutes.

Bird 86-87:   28.1 points, 7.6 assists, 9.2 rebounds 53%/40%/91% 40.6 minutes

Bron 2013:  27 points, 7.2 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 56%/40%/75% 38.5 minutes

There's a deeper discussion about the pace of the games and such... but man... Bron is ridiculous right now.

The new CBA makes it hard to keep them together that long, I hear.
