Here is the trade...

Boston Trades:  Rajon Rondo, Brandon Bass
Boston Receives:  Al Horford, Jameer Nelson

Atlanta Trades:  Al Horford, Jeff Teague
Receives:  Rajon Rondo, JJ Redick

Orlando Trades:  Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick
Receives:  Jeff Teague, Brandon Bass

Accomplishes:  Compete this year and long term.  If we end up not needing Rondo or Bass, might as well trade for a legitimate Center in Horford.  Jameer Nelson is just their to entice Orlando and make salaries work.  It is nearly impossible to replace KG and it appears we already have a replacement duo for Rondo (if this "new" Celtics style continues until the trade deadline).

Starting lineup of the future:  Bradley, Lee, Green, Sullinger, Horford
Our starting lineup for upcoming years would be:

Bradley:  23 years old
Courtney Lee: 27 years old
Jeff Green:  26 years old
Jared Sullinger: 20 years old
Al Horford:  26 years old

I think we would be better off but I'm sure there are thoughts on why we wouldn't.  Reasoning for Orlando is rebuilding by dumping contracts and a young talent in Teague.  Reasoning for the Hawks is keeping Smith by bringing in Rondo and a knock down 3pt shooter in his prime.

I'm not sure this is enough for ATL or ORL, but I want to get perspective from more Celtics fans.

No -- I prefer Rondo over Horford

Jameer Nelson couldn't crack the Celtics guard rotation. Bradley, Terry, Lee and Barbosa are all better players than Jameer Nelson is. No interest in bringing Nelson here or taking on his contract. He has negative value (to this trade) in my eyes.

I like Horford a lot.  He'd be great WITH Rondo, so I wouldn't do the trade.

Yeah.  Jameer Nelson has no value, it is just to match salaries and get Orlando to be involved.  Just a 3-team scenario I tried to do Rondo for Horford.  Bass and Nelson are just spare parts in the deal.

I'd make that trade. I like Horford's game a lot. And it is so hard to get a big man of that caliber.

If the KG-Clippers trade went through, and we got Bledsoe, I would be fine with this (I don't care where Bass goes or doesn't go -- doesn't much matter the rate he's playing).

I'd also be fine moving Rondo in the offseason, when it will be easier to do (again, only in the event we got Bledsoe, otherwise, no thanks) for Horford.  I personally think Rondo should be worth more than Al, but their salaries are very close, so if Atlanta were interested, a deal could happen.  No need to get Orlando involved.

True.  I put Orlando in the mix because they could get Reddick back for Teague since they might not need him.  I'm not sure whether Teague would be more of a SG along side Rondo or wether they would be overlapping each other at the point, or is more of a combo guard.  That aspect might not even be necessary.

Don't see why you'd include Orlando -- just trade for Horford and Teague. I also don't think ATL would do it.

Well, I'd like the C's to get Horford. I like him. I'd also perfer to get Teague or Reddik to Nelson, but can understand your reasoning.

However, the killer is losing Bass. Now, I'm not in love with Bass, but the C's *need* either him or another PF to take his place. Swapping him for Horford still leaves the C's one big man short for right now.

I consider Rondo and Horford on the same level - guys who aren't really good enough to be centerpieces of a rebuilding team, but are great building blocks. I think they'd be good together, but I feel like it would be a lateral move at best.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

Yes, this season we would be hurting but when Sullinger returns I really like our lineup.  The trade I probably should have proposed was Horford for Rondo straight up.
