Paul Pierce scored 22 points, Kevin Garnett added 21 and the Boston Celtics rallied to beat the San Antonio Spurs 93-91 on Monday night.
THanks FL Celts, TP!Morris said he wanted to return for this game but Brad said that he wants him to have at least one full practice under his belt first. I'm thinking that practice will be this week so I'm guessing day to day. It may be Wednesday or Friday but it depends on when they can get a full practice in.
Does anyone know when Morris is back or is it until further notice when he's in shape?

He's not even going through full practices yet? I got my tinfoil hat on here because he was healthy enough for some preseason minutes but not healthy enough to go through a full practice?

He didn’t travel, so their last full practice at home was last Monday. I think they’re having one tomorrow — you can put on your tinfoil hat if he doesn’t play Wednesday.

Does it not come with NBALP for other providers? It did for DirectTV/AT&T this year for me.
Oh man, four straight missed free throws. Pop might have an aneurysm!Flashbacks to when they missed a handful straight down the stretch against us ;D

WOW! Have mercy on them Big Al!!
Kyrie making that extra pass almost brought a tear to my eye. Never saw that stuff on the Cavs.
Man Al is absolutely KILLING IT this year! Perhaps it just took him a year to get comfortable in our system? He's been just great since the end of regular season last year/playoffs. Exactly what we signed him for!

Apparently it's not for DirectTV/AT&T, because that's how I'm watching it now. It used to be like that about five years ago for all packages and services, but for the last three to four years I didn't get it with either Dish Network or Verizon FIOS.
EDIT: Here it says it is: https://www.directv.com/sports/nba
I thought they weren't calling those kinds of continuations anymore??

I bough LP for the first time this season. I like it but I messed up. I should have bought directly from Comcast. That way I would have had access to both TV and online.

Same. Next year I'll to just buy from cable provider and have TV and digital.I assume you bought directly from directv right? It is separate.Same. At least now I know for next year. It's confusing. I bought team pass but through LP and think it's only available through digital. Which is fine but would be nice to have the tv option.

Sometimes I really want Kyrie's shots to go down just so I can see the ball handling on the highlights later.

Yep. I was genuinely surprised when I started getting NBATV after purchasing NBALP.
And yeah, I did the straight broadband one year, and I wasn't a fan. There's just something about watching it on the tv (without having to actually stream it online) that makes it a more enjoyable experience.
It also frees your computer up for more Celticsblogging. ;)
Semi is close to figuring it out.
Semi can guard 1-5...
Yes, he's got the defense. But he's very close on that 3 pointer too.
Rozier sick of his selfishness [dang]!
Run the offense through Tatum, Brad.
That run was almost solely fueled by Rozier lol Crashing back down to Earth.
oh dear that was a bad sequence there. rozier missing every shot, giving up multiple 3s...
Nice to see Theis hustling for the boards is good though
That was a sick pass by Kyrie.
Marcus can dunk right?
looks like they forgot how to rebound again
Kyrie has 7 shots most on the team tied with Rozier. That should never be. Rozier needs to be reigned in...

To be fair, most of Rozier's shots are point blank range. But, there's no excuse missing those easy bunnies.
My God Kyrie is awesome!
Why exactly is Nader playing?
Nader almost blew that up. lol

Kyrie is just amazing on both ends of the court tonight.

I won't lie didn't know Kyrie had such good vision.I don't think Cleveland did either ;)

To a lot of players!
Kyrie is just amazing on both ends of the court tonight.
Kyrie should have taken the last shot.
Kyrie should have taken the last shot.
Why was Rozier on the floor for that last play?
These little tweeners and fallaways take no toll on Kyries body. Nice.
plus he defends.
Spurs with 8 made 3's, C's with just 1, yet C's are up. This offense is painful at times but at least their defense is strong.
Starting to wonder if the Cleveland LeBrons were holding kyrie back from being a complete player.. ****
Rozier - 7 shots in 7 minutes
Tatum - 1 shot in 17 minutes
Someone needs to score for the 2nd unit, but Rozier shouldn't be shooting that much. Offensively we look pretty good overall, but I'd like to see Tatum a little more involved, if need be with the 2nd unit.
Starting to wonder if the Cleveland LeBrons were holding kyrie back from being a complete player.. ****if you watch the Cavs, nobody plays defense, LeBron pouts to teammates and/or refs every 3 plays, and everyone must pass to Lebron even when he’s bricking shots. The coaching staff must delegate duties to LeBron too. It’s an environment that stifles progress

4 of them came within 20 seconds. He had a pullup that was short. Someone tipped him the rebound, allowing him another shot, and then he tried a tip on that miss. Then, the next time down the court, he stole the ball from the ball-handler and missed the transition layup.
Can't fault the effort. That "7" shots is a bit inflated because of that sequence. Sometimes it doesn't go your way. One of the reasons I like CBS is that he is willing to ride with guys longer than most, even when its not going their way.

Missing the game due to power outage. Looks like KI exploding tonight. Brown back on track? His first half was really good. Shot isn't falling so much this quarter, but he's attacked the ring very well
Marcus Morris should help with scoring. Jb and jt will have off nights for awhile
Brown is fine. Tatum has been a dud tho.Missing the game due to power outage. Looks like KI exploding tonight. Brown back on track?
Kyrie yep. Brown nope.
this team is gooooood
and this is without morris and gordon
when these two are healthy.... wow
Man, I've been really impressed with a lot of our guys' defense, but off the bench both Semi and Theis have been very solid defensively.
I thought our added size, length, and athleticism would make us a better defensive team than last year, but we look legitimately like an elite defensive team from top to bottom.
It's genuinely hilarious how well Ojeleye moves his feet. I don't understand.

We've gone from the Zeller/Olynyk cream puff brigade to being an excellent rebounding team. I like...couldn't agree more. thoroughly enjoying the fact I can watch games this year without yelling at the TV for them to box out for a rebound
Rookies are always inconsistent. He'll have a lot of nights like this.Brown is fine. Tatum has been a dud tho.Missing the game due to power outage. Looks like KI exploding tonight. Brown back on track?
Kyrie yep. Brown nope.
Methinks Morris would be a good fit in this lineup. Need someone who can score desperately.
2nd time tonight this lineup has come in and given up a lead.
Brad is never going to learn with this unit, is he? Why not stagger Kyrie and Al more??They need to add another player - someone who can make 3's consistently. I assume that's what they're eventually going to use the Haywood injury exemption to go get.
Lol of course Smart hits that one.
He just needs to envision the clock running out on every single three he shoots. ;D
Ha ha ha smart drives you crazy. ;D
How is THAT the 3 Smart hitsWell, it's not the worst shot he's taken...
We survive with this unit we win the gameSeems like every game they need to survive the first 5 minutes of the 4Q

Y'all are welcome. You can address your TPs to "jpotter33."
Lol that was such a terrible shot by Rozier, but it went in so ehhhh..
Rozier going OFF now!
This team is winning 60+ next season when Hayward is back
Tatum: quiet offensively but filling it out with 10 reb, 2 ast, 3 blk, 1 stl.
This is not a standard "bad game by offensive-minded rook" line. Even when he's bad, he's pretty good.
I assume the talkin' bad about Rozier dialogue of 45 minutes ago will be retracted now?

That's the type of bad night we want on our players. Even Jaylen is contributing on D and boards if his shots are not falling.

I think Jaylen has like 18 or 21 points tonight too... "Shot's not falling" :P

Almost nothing he's done when he's had the ball has been good so it isn't surprising. Good defense though.

I am not crazy about Irving's mediocre effort on defense - he allows penetration, leaves his man free on the perimeter and definitely does not hustle back in transition.
Is Stevens tough enough to make Irving play harder on defense ?

Can you imagine what our team would look like with Hayward?

Is this a joke? I'm curious what game(s) have YOU been watching? Kyrie's D has been stellar all season so far to say the least! I'll never understand why people comment and say things that have absolutely zero merit smh...

OH shi-- My bad.
THEISMAN was COLD-blooded-KILLER out there. Love having active rebounders and grit guys on the team.
The defense in the 4th for last few games has been lights out.I honestly thought, even with Hayward, this would be a middling defensive team.
I think this has been a key to the winning streak -- solid rebounding throughout the game and especially in the fourth quarter. for years we've been getting killed on the boards by the other teams -- so many second chance points given up that are no longer occurringFun game. First lopsided win over the Spurs in 20 years.

him and baynes have been such a relief protecting rim and grabbing boards and playing solid defense. such an upgrade over man bun and amir.
I am not crazy about Irving's mediocre effort on defense - he allows penetration, leaves his man free on the perimeter and definitely does not hustle back in transition.
Is Stevens tough enough to make Irving play harder on defense ?
Is this a joke? I'm curious what game(s) have YOU been watching? Kyrie's D has been stellar all season so far to say the least! I'll never understand why people comment and say things that have absolutely zero merit smh...

Not a joke. I am basing this concern on specific plays where he surrendered the drive WAY too easily and where he completely left and ignored his man standing on the perimeter, which resulted directly in his man hitting a 3-pointer and I have seen several incidents of him stopping short of the half-court line with the other team in offensive transition.
Do you not understand the fundamental concepts of defense ....... stop the ball, help side and rotate back to your man as the ball is moved and of course, hustle back on defense.
BTW..........I have been a Celtic fan since the mid 60's. I am no troll.

Tatum had his worst game of the season, and the team still won by double digits. That's the biggest takeaway for me.
This board has gotten meaner. God forbid I should express some criticism, which btw, was based on direct observation from different games.
Maybe you guys don't understand what is important in defensive basketball. The casual gavone thinks if a guy blocks a shot and gets a couple of steals that he is playing good defense. Blocks and steals are small parts of great team defense. Russell was great because he and his teammates knew how to rotate as a unit, he understood positioning and when he did block a shot, he kept the ball in play - much better than sticking it in the first row.

He's not as bad as you make it out to be. You also brought it out at the wrong place and the wrong time. There's about 3-4 "Kyrie Irving sucks" or "I wish we had IT" thread out there to post those kinds, not in the game thread when we had the win in the bag and he was already on the bench in a game he played well defensively.

Yeah. Tatum overall had a very good game. He was excellent on defense and on the boards. His length really disrupted the Spurs.
Gotta say that Danny's drafting ability, or luck, or both, seems to have improved the last two years. He looks like a genius lately. We'll see how these young guys play out the long seasonNever thought Danny's drafting record was that bad. Some hits, some misses. About the same as most GMs. And of course its a lot easier to hit with high draft picks. In the 3 recent high draft picks he has had, I think he hit and got the best player available at that pick.
Wow tenn_smoothie so glad you showed up you're a swell guy. You've watched so many games tell us all how it is please....

Save your condescending remarks for someone else. I am sure I have been watching the Celts a lot longer than you have. Don't try to tell me what I can and can't comment on inside certain threads. Pompous jerk.

Gotta say, Kyrie was incredible tonight on both ends of the floor. He looks much better as he is quickly getting comfortable with Steven's system.Doesn't Kyrie lead the Celtics in deflected balls and is one of the leaders this year in that category across the league? That in itself shows that his effort and improvement are:

I was hoping to see Pops head-locking Baynes like he did to Simmons. But oh well. All is good ;DThat was Terrence Ross actually, which makes it even better.

Maybe your eyes have detereorated a bit after watching the C's for 50-odd years? Because I can tell you as someone who actually played AAU ball and against future NBA players, and got on the court mainly for defense, Kyrie's defense is fine. If you play PG in 2017, with more elite PGs than any other time in history, you're going to get beat sometimes.Kyrie's defense is not simply fine, it's exponentially better than Thomas', even ignoring player size. Irving is actually able to stay in front of players and crowd the passing lanes -- something Thomas was shockingly bad at.
Just the giving the team the ability to not help desparately when he's targeted has to help a bunch. He does get screened easily but at least he can recover better than IT can when it happens.Maybe your eyes have detereorated a bit after watching the C's for 50-odd years? I am not ready to bash IT like that, the majority difference is still their sizeMaybe your eyes have detereorated a bit after watching the C's for 50-odd years? I'll never knock ITs effort he legitimately tried hard most of the time on defense, especially given that we know he was playing on a bad hip, while carrying a huge offensive burden.
Just couldn't bother shots/passes at his size and length and teams ruthlessly targeted him whenever they could.
I would expect a player like him to be able to compensate the lack of size with foot speed, but he appeared to lack both. You might want to chalk it up to his bad hip or increased offensive burden, or both -- but I thought the absence of instincts and inability to contribute to the defense was glaring. That wasn't to say it was due to lack of effort -- but sometimes effort can only get you this far.I am not ready to bash IT like that, the majority difference is still their sizeMaybe your eyes have detereorated a bit after watching the C's for 50-odd years? Ad hominems plural?? a) i think there is probably a better plural form for hominen, not sure what it is, but there is one. I saw a tattoo on a girl I met once, under arm. She defintely had it... b) I think everyone knows that only one person made this personal.
There is one ****bag here.
