I would not trade any of the following for Sabonis or anyone else for that matter:

J Tatum
J Brown
M Smart
C Edwards
G Williams
R Williams

I like Domantas.  I wanted C's to trade Rozier for Sabonis in summer of 2018 (and any time after that as well), unfortunately that didn't happen.

I'm with you.  Grant the only one of those to entertain.  But he may turn into a good three point shooter...and with all the rest he'll do even that trade is a no go for now.

The Brown for Sabonis idea was a positional idea gone awry.  Would be a terrible trade.

I'm with keeping Brown.

Popovich wanted him and the reasons for this were pretty clear in the discussion about the fiba roster.

I think Sabonis is a terrific player, but, he isn't what this particular Celtics team needs now.

I think Brown is exactly what the Celtics need now as he is a defender.

The Celtics are going to score a bazillion points this year and, as Ainge evidenced by going all in on Davis, they just need a frontcourt that offers some defense....some more than they have now.

Subtracting Brown's defense hurts the team more than adding Sabonis' offense would help.

Awesome value. Would have much preferred Sabonis for that than what we ended up getting Brown for, to be honest.

Even better it's apparently a typo and he got 75 million, with up to 84 after bonuses.

You mean we don't need a rugged big who can rebound and spread the floor, news to me....

While I like Sabonis a lot and think he would make a great deal of sense for this Celtics team, the Celtics are betting that an above average two way wing is simply worth more in today's league than a productive big man who doesn't protect the rim at a high level.

I think they're probably correct about that, at least in terms of projecting over the next 3-4 years and prioritizing trade value over team fit.

Ouch. That is a lot of money for a backup center.

Supposedly he and the Pacers were 'far apart' last week yet the number he signed for sounds pretty reasonable.  It's amazing what a deadline can do when it comes to negotiations...

I think it's probably a bit weird to look at it like that. He's a young big-man who just averaged 14/9/3 with a TS% of 63%. I wouldn't be surprised if he does even better this season.

It is his best role. His defense isn't good enough as a starter. Not without becoming a more dynamic offensive threat. An efficient garbage man and passer is not enough.

A lackluster starter or top backup center. Those are the roles he can play. Whichever role he ends up with, $20 million is too much for it.

You're not wrong, but I think in paying $18.75/year for Sabonis and $18/year for Turner isn't too bad. Just over $36m a year for those two isn't too troubling to me. I'd rather have that on my books than Jamal Murray for $34m a year.

That Jamal Murray contract is a disaster.

THey are one of the best young tandems in the league.  They averaged almost 54 min combined last year, so they play 5-10 mins at least together in a twin big formation.  DS can play PF pretty decently, and they both have 3 point range, although Turner shot a whole lot more of them.  I wish we had him over any of our bigs to be honest.

Say Hayward shows a little improvement this year. Averages 16,7,4 and looks healthy. Would you trade Hayward and Langford in offseason 2020 for Sabonis and Warren?
