I would love to add Bruce Brown. He would bring some needed toughness to this group. He is from Boston, I actually thinks he would love to play here. I believe he is currently in Boston showing the trophy and he posted some cryptic message I heard from a friend…

Brown would be a fan favourite from day 1 and the Garden would adore him.

But what can we offer?? MLE, ours is 7M or 5M??

That would not get it done, or will he give a tremendous home discount, no right?

He'd have to take a hell of a discount to play at home.  He's a solid player and realistically he's worth more than we have available to give him.  No chance IMHO.

He’ll definitely command more than we can pay; is a S&T possible?  I don’t believe so but not sure

Brad should have called him first last year, before wasting money on Gallo.  Too late now, unless Brown decides differently. I love his game.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

After his finals performance, he’s gonna get a nice payday. He just declined his 6.8M option. He’s looking to get way more than that.

Zero.

Denver can offer slightly more from non-Bird or early-Bird rights or whatever it is and he very much wants to stay there. So no reason for Bruce Brown to leave a team he loves for less money to come here.

There is talk he may stay in Denver on a cut price deal. That he would rather be on a winner where he is happy than make more money elsewhere.

The big question as always is how much money is willing to lose out on to stay in DEN. I would think that he would get offers of at least $15mil per if not $20mil per annum elsewhere. Denver only offering slightly above the TMLE. Not even a full MLE.

If he was willing to risk it, sign another 1 year deal with a player option for some protection. Then opt out again next summer and sign a bigger contract (he can get a bigger raise then). And again the year after when they have his full bird rights and can sign him to whatever they want.

The time to sign Brown was last year.  He took less from Denver than we gave Gallo.

Assuming Bruce wanted to return to hometown Boston, could simultaneously signing and trading him and grant work? Or would that hard cap us?

Yeah, that would hard cap us at well below our current payroll.  It's not really possible.
