Grizzlies: Luka Doncic

Mavericks: Ja Morant, 2025 Grizzlies 1st round pick

———

Memphis Grizzlies

Smart
Bane
Doncic
Jackson Jr
Adams

Kennard, Williams, Clarke, Tillman, Aldama

———

I know in the real world this trade never happens, it’s never that simplistic trading an MVP calibre franchise guy.

But it’s rather surprising how much this trade makes sense.

I don't think the Mavs are entertaining this even before the gun stuff. My perception of Luka is far beyond Ja...adding in the character issues and it's not something a late first rounder is solving. Would take a truck of them.

I understand that, but given the horrific roster construction of the Mavericks & how ultra competitive Doncic is, it’s only a matter of time before he hands in a trade request.

Perhaps Memphis has to throw in another pick or two but the idea is that Morant gets a fresh start, Mavericks get a younger superstar who’s on a longer deal.

When Doncic hands in that trade request, other teams may offer a truck load of picks, but no other team will offer a marketable young superstar like Morant.

Dallas says.

Morant is nowhere near Luka as a player. Morant is closer to Jaylen Brown level. Not Tatum. Not Luka.
