At some point it’s inevitable that the Grizzlies cut Dwight Howard, would you take a flyer on him for a vets minimum? His attributes (that are left) are essentially all our weaknesses and if he finally buys in to a smaller role his rebounding is still elite along with his sheer strength and rim protection. For me Kanter can’t start next to Tatum and Rob Williams doesn’t seem ready yet, so Howard could be huge for a cheap risk...and if worse comes to worse he can just be flicked.

Not interested. And why can’t Kanter play next to Tatum?

is he not better than Yubu ?  we kept him and he was worthless .

With Kyrie experience still fresh in their minds ,  once bitten twice shy , i don't see Brad and DA grabbing at a player like him anytime soon.

I would take him on the cheap.

Yeah, Howard is a locker-room problem. I feel like the last thing Danny and co. will do after last season is take risks on guys who have a long history of being a problematic locker-room presence

Every year this thread comes up. Every year we don't pick him up. Every year he gets benched/traded/cut because players reportedly hate being around him. The pile of injuries certainly don't help either. Here is the last 3 years:

Rockets decide not to pursue him in FA
Hawks trade him for nothing after 1 year
Hornets trade him for bad salary after 1 year
Brooklyn immediately cuts him
Washington trades him after 1 year for nothing

Dude had 5 really impressive seasons in Orlando but after that it's been a really spectacular fall from grace. The last season in Orlando are arguably HOF worthy. We'll see if his personality keeps him out.

My bet is that his personality has and will continue to keep him out of Boston.

No. I spent all last season rooting for a team I could tell didn’t like each other, and I hated that. No. No Dwight Howard. No. I’d rather miss the playoffs.

There is a reason for the sunshine sky. So sang Bellamy Brothers

There is a reason why Dwight and Melo are out of the league.
So say the league employees.

Kemba played with Dwight in Charlotte where Dwight put up 30/30 games. Charlotte also couldn't wait to get rid of him since he would apperently break plays at the end of games.

If Kemba wanted Dwight, he'd be a Celtic right now. I'd be interested in taking a flyer on him but I doubt it happens.

Nicely done.  Great song - it’s on my little music gadget.

 "Anything is possible" ?

I opened this thread up to see who Howard was.  With only a sip of two of coffee all I came up with was Juwan, and I knew that couldn't be it.  Dwight is an afterthought at this point - and not a pleasant one.  Buy bye.

Cs has made character and team chemistry a massive point of emphasis this offseason. For the time being, I don’t think they have any interest in messing with a bad locker room guy after the dumpster fire that was last year.

So, by way of analogy... If I come across a rusty pair of garden shears, would I purposefully cut my big toe off with them?

I'd much rather take a chance on both Dwight and Carmelo then basically waste the 14th and 15th spots on young guys that aren't going to play at all and have very little chance of ever being able to contribute at all.  Or at least the 15th spot (maybe you like Wanamaker)
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
