Morris will be fine.

I'm more worried about Hayward.

I think sooner or later the Celts would have to choose between Hayward and Brown.
Those two can't seem to coexist.

I've never seen a Celtic game where both Hayward and Brown played well.
You must have missed the game against Dallas from 2 weeks ago. Brown and Hayward were the 2 best players on the court that night.

I saw that game.
But it wasn't a close game.
Celts won easily.

From what I've noticed this season, Brown never gets in the game when it's crunch time.
It was only against the Hawks that Brown played in crunch time.
And that was because Smart and Hayward did not play.

Usually it's Hayward or Brown with a good game, but not both at the same time.

Both Hayward and Brown are very good players.
But I think Celts must choose between one of them.
So first you never saw a game where both Hayward and Brown played well. Then when shown you did, you discount it as not a close game. So, I guess what you meant was you have yet to see a close game where both Brown and Hayward both played well.

Well, they both played well in the second game and that was a close game. My guess is you are going to say that the Cs lost that game so that will be similarly dismissed because you have never seen both play well in a close win.

The thing is, when both play well together, it will most likely end up in a blowout, so I don't even know what his point is anymore.
The other thing is since both are essentially bench role players, Brown and Hayward could play great, fulfilling their roles, and yet not have amazing stats. I think they have already had a couple games like that this year.

My issue with Brown is he said he's a starter and he's going to prove he's a starter in Boston.
That happened when he lost his starting job.
There was a yahoo article about that.

Here:

Despite rough start, Celtics’ Jaylen Brown is convinced he’s an NBA starter
https://sports.yahoo.com/despite-rough-start-celtics-jaylen-171738191.html

Hayward on the other hand said he's willing to be a bench player if it helps the Celts win.

If Brown will accept his role as a bench player, I think it will benefit both the Celts and Brown.

But I think the Celts are better off if they choose between Hayward and Brown.
There's just not enough minutes and shots for both of them.

Both Hayward and Brown are starters if they're on another team.
Right now it's just a case of the Celts having too many wing players.
That article was from December 12th. Here's Brown's number since 12/6/18

13ppg
4.3 rpg
1.5 apg
1.1 spg
0.6 bpg
+3.3 per game
 48/38/70 shooting splits.

In just 24 mpg.

His per36 stats are almost exactly the same as last year when he was a starter except he hasn't shot the three as well, especially early in the season, though as can be seen, he is getting close to shooting at the 40% from three he shot last year.

Given he is putting up these numbers, I think it safe to say he has accepted his role. And just because he wants to start sometime in the future rather than stay a bench player is encouraging as he sees himself as more and will be trying to show as such. That's good.

Also, when you have a lot of great wings, you don't trade one away because there isn't enough shots. You convince them it's better to sacrifice for team good than demand shots and screw things up and lose.

Having a lot of great wings that are difference makers is a problem I am guessing 29 other GMs in the league wish they had.

It would not be a problem if Hayward is not getting 32m per year.

But at 32m per year, that's just too much for a bench player.

I have no problem if the Celts choose Brown over Hayward.
Just don't keep both.

Jaylen Brown doesn't play in crunch time.
When it's 5 minutes remaining in the 4th, Jaylen is on the bench.
That's such a waste of talent.

Celts are better off trading wing depth for a big man who can rebound and score inside.
Right now the Celts are negative 0.5 in rebounding.

Too many wings and not enough rebounding and inside scoring will only result in the Celts exiting the playoffs earlier than expected.
