Why wouldn’t this be considered a DUI case? 

And is there a law against carrying while under the influence?

It's probably not DUI because they can't prove intoxication / impairment.  With alcohol, it's easy:  do a breathalyzer.  Drugs are harder, because they stay in your system long after impairment is over.  In Maine, prosecutors can "prove" a drug OUI through showing any level of a substance in somebody, along with tying that to an illegal traffic move, etc.  I'm not sure what the Indiana test is.  If he was pulled over for erratic driving, who knows, they could add charges.

A lot of states don't have a "carrying under the influence" charge, but even if Indiana does, they need to show Rondo was actually impaired.

I agree with Roy about the gun stuff but crazy people are getting arrested for marijuana in 2024 unless they are like hot boxing their car driving.

Shouldn’t pretend to actually know Rondo, but the two non-basketball things consistently said about him in my memory were, 1) he’s really smart and 2) he lacks impulse control.  Smart people do stupid things (not smart people do too). He’s got some volatility in his history - hope he addresses that or it could get worse than this.
