  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This was the guy I wanted before we got Posey last season (mostly because I didn't think Posey was possible). Udoka had a fantastic season with the Blazers 2 years ago, then an alright season with San Antonio last season.

The rotation at the 3 goes something like Finley/Bowen/GInobli with Udoka being the odd man out. Part of me thinks the reason why the Spurs haven't moved him is because while they don't need him now, they will soon with Bowen being 36 (I think) and they are just grooming his replacement.

In any case the trade Im thinking is

Leon Powe, 2nd round pick

for

Udoka

No serious cap ramifications for either party, and Powe brings some energy and toughness to the Spurs second group.

Powe is the better player and the C's need him more than Udoka.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
I really sont know who is beter playing at their respective best
and certanly Powe is expendable
but i wonder if we are not helping SA too much, and sudently i dont want to make the trade because of that.

I noticed Udoka's lack of minutes when we played SA, too.  I also noticed Oberto barely played.  So how about:

C's get:
- Oberto
- Udoka

SA gets:
- Scal
- Glen Davis
- Bill Walker

SA gets a guy in Scal who can keep Duncan from having to guard the more mobile bigs and two cheap young players with upside; C's get a playoff-tested legit big and an experienced wing who can defend and shoot the 3.

I love the idea of Oberto, but would be sorry to give up Walker.

This trade looks even worse.  Ever considered why Oberto can't get on the floor with the Spurs?  Why would he be able to do that with the Celtics when he can't even crack the Spurs rotation?  Also consider the fact that you are trading TWO 6'9 guys for two guys that are about 6'6.  As a general rule in basketball you don't trade BIGs for smalls unless the small guy is really good.  Neither of these two fit into that category.
